I have my thoughts about 'X' class... and PAX, but that is another thread. I will be in it next year dependng on PAX changes for 06. Needless to say, Fisher is untouchable right now with an HS PAX. An ESP STi would have a chance as it is equally as soft, but I digress.

I think I will just STU it or STU PRO. I will make my decision by tomorrow.

Thanks all!

Ah.. I would if I was going to the school. I think I am going to need that extra day to work on my suspension.

So AB has a great chance of being faster than his students... unless PJ and Dan can show him up :)

Ahh... so wrong. You do remember we're at Laurinburg and I'm not running a Celica on street tires, right? ;)

I'll still take your bet. - AB

I agree with Donnie and Scott - just run in X class. Not that it matters to me, but AFAIK, the season points are pretty well sewn up. Even if they're not, most, if not all, of us wouldn't be bothered at all and would welcome you or anyone else who wants to run X.

Also, I just found a nail in one of the tires I'm planning to run on my BMW this Sunday, and it may not be repairable, so it's likely I'll also be running X-STU in my STi. Should be a decent battle if you run the same.

I remember all those things. I do also remember our conversation earlier wher you will be on some Hancrap's.

Alas, Herring will not be in the school

You're doing the $5 per tenth standard bet, right?

I only do that with co-driver's at National events. At Nationals, we kick it up to $10 a tenth. It certainly gives you incentive, even if you're driving poorly. - AB

Remember... I take bribes. If you split the winnings with me, i am sure I can be persueded to lose by a healthy margin. I don't mind losing as long as it pays well ;)

Believe me, I'd probably agree. I'd just assume we didn't have an X class. But as long as we do have it, I'll run it.

Think about what you just said and why you said it. If you only care about winning, then go cherry pick the easiest class. You could probably find one you could dominate without even changing cars.

I think you are genuinely interested in good competition, however. If that's the case, why worry about PAX differences? I don't. I've never heard Eric Peterson seriously moan about soft PAXes at anything other than a ProSolo (where it *really* matters since there's tires on the line...and I've been moaning then, too). At a local event where you're worried about getting better and measuring yourself, well, the PAX "unfairness" isn't enough to worry about. Heck, I beat Carl by .850 on PAX at the Laurinburg 2 day, and nobody would argue that the CS pax is also soft. Granted I found a zone I may never find again and Carl was still probably learning that car (and he's a better autocrosser than me), but I'm just pointing out it can be done (and four other people beat him, one with an ES pax and everyone else with CS).

Anyway, my point is don't worry, be happy. :) Which translates to run whatever class you want to run and don't worry about what the rest of us think. That's what I do. :)

:?: PAX doesn't enter into the results at a PS except in L-1,2, M & P classes.

Personally I don't understand how the competition is any higher in X or open class, the top 10 PAX results still comes out the same if you want to compare yourself to everyone else.

You need to remember that Chris is running L1, and with the soft pax #'s for GS and HS, it's sometimes a lost cause. STS used to be an issue too, funny how that loophole went away. Hopefully GS and HS will get where they belong. - AB

That's always the case when the performance in a class takes a major jump from the previous year either by a new class member (GS in 05) or by development (STS in 04). That's the biggest weakness with PAX it's reactive rather than proactive, always a year behind. I expect a BIG move in GS PAX to very close to DS, little to no move in HS, the Mini was already in and dominating the class in 04, it hasn't gotten appreciably quicker this year, just more of them. Kung didn't seem to have a problem with the CS PAX whenever she ran L1.
