It was a fun course. It was challenging and required some thinking ahead to separate the slaloms from the "gate slaloms". I particularly liked the diagonal slalom on the runway. The pointer cones on that slalom were helpful.

I was surprised at how fast the course was, considering there really weren't many places where you straightened the wheel out or balanced the car in a sweeping turn. I hit the rev limiter in 2nd (57mph) at least 3 times on the course, 2 times were just for a moment, but on the taxiway slalom entrance I was on it for a couple of seconds.

Normally I have time to cuss outloud at myself if I botch a section, but I don't remember having time to do it Sunday. :o

I figure any course where I'm breathing hard and my hands are shaking a bit at the end of a clean run must have something going for it! :)

Thanks to Amy and Phil for a different and really fun layout. Great job. I arrived Sunday a.m. with a really crappy attitude. The rain didn't help. After working first heat in the bus, I am informed about 5 times on my way back into the pits that I have a flat tire. By this time, I am ready to pack up my toys and go home. Thanks to Tom Freeman for supplying me with his plug kit, Aaron Buckley for the needle nose pliers and Kent Young for the razor blade and timely supervision. You guys really turned my day around for me! I proceeded to go out and have a waaay better time than I thought would be possible for the day. Thanks guys!

I'd also like to say it was great to see Bill Howlett show up with his Acura NSX. He was joining us in our Tarheel events 2 years ago. Bill has been overseas for the past year or so flying helicopters for the US Marine Corp. It was a great surprise to see him back and safe after seeing service in Kozovo and Iraq. Current events in the news strike home harder when you know someone out in the middle of it. Good to see you back Bill!
