First car off was at 9:30 and I was on my way home by 2...and I could have left earlier. Everyone got 4 runs and we could have easily done 5. They ended up doing fun runs at the end of the day. We will most likely get 5 tomorrow. FTD was a 37.something and went to Ken Kalill.

We didn't stay for the audited results, but here is where the Tarheelers that I can remember finished after the first day (and I could be completely wrong)....

AS
1st - Dick Rasmussen
2nd - Rick Butters
3rd - Chris Landi
4th - Miles Beam

CS
2nd - Donnie Barnes

DS
1st - Scott Johnson
2nd - Matt McGrain
4th - Charlie Smith

ES
1st - Jim Pastorius
3rd - Keith Vail

GS
2nd - Stephen Westerfield

GSL
1st - Judi Chovan

HS
2nd - Bernie Bakke

HSL
1st - Gwen Bakke

CSP
2nd - Eric Peterson

DSP
1st - Jason Mauldin

DSPL
1st - Tonya Mauldin

AP
1st - Patrice Bousquet
2nd - Kathy Gleason

STS2
1st - The Alien
3rd - Todd Breakey

STU
1st - Brian Herring
2nd - Marcus McRae

SM
2nd - Walter Houston
3rd - Chris Lanier

SM2
1st - Les Davis

Jason Panciera, Kevin Butler, and Brad Mackey also ran, but I didn't catch what place they were in. Sorry guys. Sorry if I left anyone else out too. Looks like THSCC will be bringing home plenty of wood.

Great event so far!

I took some pictures, mostly in the 4th heat. All the usual disclaimers apply...

1) Distribute them FREEly.
2) If you want it removed from the web, jsut ask.
3) I have much higher quality, higher res (6.3 MP) pictures on the computer at home. If you want one, just ask (some sort of reference to which one would be good).
5) I can edit out license plates if you want...

Anne thanks you for all the photos of her. She said she was easy to shoot because she was going so slow :) We are going to change that tomorrow.

If you are home and not in Greensboro this weekend, you are missing out on a lot of fun. Awesome course by Geoff Zimmer.

All of that and not a *single* picture of SUPER SPRAYER(tm)! That's good...today's was version 1.1 and the early finish allowed me to take it all the way to version 1.2 for tomorrow.

Off to see if I can find a combo 12V charger and inverter...

(I figure that if I'm gonna drive like ass then at least I can have the baddest tire sprayer ever conceived by man. Or something like that.)

Amen to that! After a slightly slow start due to a couple of timer issues (and one clueless outside spectator wandering across the course), Triad ran a nearly flawless event. While it was blazing hot out there, there were plenty of places to grab a bit of shade and they had the coliseum open which provided an air-conditioned place to take the edge off and clean bathrooms. Heck, if you somehow got bored, you could check out the dog show going on inside. At one point, there must of been 15 Corgis running around which at first sight I thought Jim P's dogs had run amuck and gone on a wild breeding spree!

The course was great and offered a variety of elements that we don't see a lot of due to our site limitations. There was a loooong downhill off-camber sweeper that had a pucker factor as high as any Lauringburg course-- I don't think I ever got that one right. With the exception of having a slalom that wasn't flat for the lower hp cars (read: 100hp CRX), the course had a great mix of places where patience was *required* and places where you could attack with no mercy. With good overlap and 3 cars on course at a time, the grid was moving so fast people were having trouble keeping their tires cool. All in all, fun fun fun!

The Tarheel contingent drove very well today and it was nice to see everybody out there. Our Prez is currently sitting 3rd in PAX (after a great run on his first look at the course!) with many other Tarheel'ers in the top 10.

Despite being dead tired, I can't wait to get back out there tomorrow!

Jim

Another great day today. 5 runs each, a 45 min lunch break, trophies, *long* raffle and still home by 5:00.

the rain held off (just an insignificant sprinkle in the 4th heat).

Results are posted.

Was the final score the combined times from Sat& Sun or best of the two days? Same course or two different courses?
Sorry we couldn't be there.

Final score was the combined best times from each day. Course was reversed and slightly modified for Sunday.

Thanks for the photos.
This was a great event and a lot of fun!
Sean Scott co-drove my car and showed me what the car would really do. I drove well the first day, but sucked the second day!
Well, at least my car was first. Chris was third and uses my stock rims with his V710s and my old flywheel is in his Trans Am. I say, Camaro parts make a Pontiac faster. Chris counters with, "How do you make a Camaro faster? Put a Pontiac driver at the wheel". Sadly, all true.

Well guys looks like we held our own !!! Went through the results to see which club won the most class crowns,(if a n entrant was member of 2 or more participating clubs I gave each club credit) Triad pulled out 11 class trophies and ties Tarheel with 11 also.I think with Ken Kalill getting the overall FTD,that makes us THE FASTEST CLUB IN NORTH CAROLINA !!!!!!!

I think it would be a better comparison to compare classes where TSCC members and Tarheel members were competiting and see who won the most of the head-to-head battles.

If that is true for them, then I cannot disclaim their assertation based upon the event's results.

:)

Brian-

Join their forum and point that out. Maybe with 365 days (give or take) to trash talk we'll actually have some interest in the event next year! Nothing like a good rivalry to get things going.

I'd also like people to let me know what format you want to see for next years NCAC. Multi event vs one big event.

The multi event deal was great when BFG gave out tires like haloween candy, but I just don't know if there is enough support now.

Single weekend is a nice format. Multi event, although nice, just rewards those willing to make all of the dates (or the necessary #). Most often, the best drivers are not the champions. - AB
