If you plan to get to the event Saturday morning, also plan to bring $5 to get in the gate...

Interesting arrangement they have with the Coleseum.

Would you pay $5 extra to run at the RBC Center? Funny thing, the Coleseum website even lists the Triad event...right there with the Boss :)

I would suggest you try the Comfort Inn at the Koury Blvd Exit off I-40.

My rate: $59.46 for 2 dbl beds or 1 king. (Actually, I'm getting the AARP deal 8) ), The Internet Rate is $62. About $72 including the tax, I'd guess.
All the extras, including HSWireless, breakfast, etc.
Plus, there's plenty of parking on Veasley Street, if necessary.

Why screw around with an outfit that welch's on the original deal! Hell with 'em, I say. Stay someplace else. Apparently, the Park Lane doesn't give a rat's ass for our business.

The Drury Inn is right down the street from the venue and Park Lane. It is $69 a night for a King. You get free drinks and snacks at the nightly manager's reception and the breakfast is awesome! Plus an hour of free long distance.

When I called the Park Lane hotel, the receptionist was extremely pleasant and even asked if I was with the Autocross Group.

Having never been to an autocross there, I am assuming that the event is in the big parking lot at the south end of the map? Is that right?

So, this is going to be a 60 dollar weekend for 6 runs?

:? :?

I need to talk to Justin.

Don't think of this as a "fun event" where you get lots of runs - think of it as a championship event (which it IS, duh. ), where YOU have to procuce your best run in only 3 tries. If you think of it that way, it's well worth it. If you keep thinking of it as just another autox, you're missing the point. :P

We are going to be using the big parking lot plus the lots numbered 6 and 8 if I remember correctly from talking to Pat Borka. As for the gate entrance it began at the last event there, it used to be get there before 9 and you don't have to pay an entrance fee but the last event the gate man was there at 7:30 just waiting for everyone. So be prepared to pay for parking. :banghead:

Hmmm... I was actually thinking of it more as a Test & Tune :)

Some things I guess I just don't care about that much.

So what are you testing & tuning for, if not for autox championships?

:stick:

Danville was MY test & tune for NCAC - I used a car & setup that I hadn't used in about a year, confirmed that yes, the car is still as fast as I remember, and that I do need to change a couple of things before NCAC. Wish VMP hadn't been rained out, or I would've been able to test the actual NCAC setup without endangering the lives of several Food Lion shopping carts. After NCAC, the car goes back to rallycross mode & my "serious" month of autoxing is over for the year.

Why would anybody who doesn't do national events think of NCAC as a test & tune? :? (Not all smartass, I really am partly curious about this... )

If you don't see the value in 6 runs for $50 or $60 or whatever, then don't go. If, however, you want to test yourself against some of the best competition in the state and try to be called a "state champion", then that's a pretty damned good price, especially since you get a shirt along with it.

Like Kevin said, this is the type of event you should think of as more than a test and tune. Heck, even those of us who run lots of national events and Nationals and all that think of this event as something worthy of concentration, decent tires, and definitely worthy of the entry price. I'm quite proud to have won last year and look forward to trying to do it again.

Triad runs pretty good events, and I think they'll step it up for this event and make it a *really* good event. They have been working really hard, that much I can say. I'm looking forward to it.

What Donnie Said!!!

FYI for anyone who is a relative newbie to "Big" events: Bring your best proven setup (tire pressures, shock settings, alignment, etc.) and just focus on getting better as a driver on each of your runs. DO NOT adjust the car if you aren't already an expert. In my case (has been expert :( ) I stopped adjusting the car (except at test sessions) about 25 or 30 years ago (before I got to my peak :D ).

What he said.

I bought new tires, and I might even use them!

It's just another autoX. I am not worried about 'serious' competition yet. I am still getting used to the car, and I wanna throw a few more things at it. Screw 'championships'. You can have that.

I could honestly care less about the 'competition'. I have my own personal goals I wanna complete. If I lose -- I lose. That's the way it is. Those people are better than me, and I will accept it. The car is NO WHERE near I want it to feel, and to heck if I am just going to 'settle' with it.

Oh well. :) Have fun at your 'serious' competition. I will have fun and accomplishing what I am looking to do.

Thanks for being SOoooo understanding.

Blech.

Ps. I would prefer UBER post whore, thank you very much.
