All in all, good weekend. It was unfortunate we had the computer issues that we had, but while there was much debate about what would fix it, I think the problems will be corrected in short order. For those not used to running with Tarheel, this was not a typical event as far as how smoothly they run. I'm proud to be part of a club where there are usually too many people trying to help fix a problem instead of not enough.
Given some things I've experienced personally lately as far as autocross was concerned, a 70 second course was probably exactly what I needed. This one definitely lived up to its name, Split Personality. For those not there, the course gave you tastes of fast, but would end that pretty abruptly with places you needed to be slow. It was probably the single most technical course I've run outside of anything at Nationals. It was extremely challenging in that it required a ton of patience. Set yourself up for the next feature at the exit of the one before, and you're fine. Get greedy and you're DOA.

Kudos to the event chairs for all the work that went into setting up a course like that.
I'm also always impressed with the novices at these events. Not because they're so fast necessarily, but because they're willing to ask for help. The only way they remain so willing would be because we as a club make them feel welcome and make sure they know that it's okay to ask for help. I know I always try to make time for a novice when asked. I really wanted to say "sorry, but I'm way past my lunchtime" once yesterday, but I knew Christine would still be there after one more run and some discussion. And she was...
Speaking of that, thanks to Christine and company for lunch *again*. I can't tell you how much that helps me at an event like this. It's so awesome not to have to worry about bringing food for lunch. Snacks are easy, but I just hate trying to bring a decent lunch for some reason. I guess because I'm bad at it. Fortunately, she isn't. In fact, she's quite good at it.
Good job, everyone. It's nice to get a few decent runs in. Now if I can only figure out how to do it before runs 8 and 9, since it isn't often I run an event with a format that will give me *that* kind of opportunity.
