What do you get when you team together an event co-chair from Canada, who speaks with a French accent but drives a German car, with an event co-chair from oh-so-cosmopolitan Durham, who would rather push a Pinto than drive a Corvette, and bleeds Carolina Blue? Intrigue, my friends, International Intrigue!

You also get a team competition, that you will find to be both international and intriguing. Here are the rules for the special competition that will be held as part of the April 23rd "International Intrigue Autocross" at the Dealers Auto Auction in Greenville:

Each team will be composed of four drivers. The lowest individual net times (raw time + penalties) during the regular autocross competition for each of the four drivers on the team will be added together to determine the team score. Lowest team time wins.

Team composition must meet these requirements:

INTERNATIONAL RULES:
1. At least one driver must drive a North American brand car, and there may be only one North American brand car driver per team.
2. At least one driver must drive a European brand car.
3. At least one driver must drive an Asian brand car.

*** NOTE: Car continent-of-origin will be determined by the commonly recognized nationality of the brand. For example: Mitsubishi Eclipses and all Mazdas will be counted as Japanese. Eagle Talons will count as American. VW Rabbits, even Amish ones, will count as German. If you are still intrigued, consult the event chairs.

INTRIQUING RULES:
4. At least one driver must be a woman.
5. At least one driver must drive on street tires.

A single driver may fulfill both RULES 4 and 5, in addition to one of RULES 1-3.

A prize or prizes of undetermined but likely trivial value will be awarded to the winning team.

Teams are encouraged to come up with clever team names, fight songs, paddock decorations, dances, costumes or other gimmicks.

Send your team entries to atlarge@thscc.com
Please indicate in your entry note the team name, each driver and car, and which driver(s) will be on street tires. We'll do our best to figure out the boy/girl thing if you don't tell us.

What happens to the drivers who aren't popular enough to be chosen for a team?

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

But we can't run as individuals, right?

No, you cannot run as individual. You will need to ask around and built a team yourself.

As for Rob question, if you ended up looking good enough that we cannot tell your a men under the clothing we might consider it, I said, we might.

Just to try to help clarify. You can run individually just like a regular event. But you can't take part in the special team results unless you are part of a team. Right? I didn't want Scott or anyone else to walk away thinking this event was for teams only.

just a thought here. what about adding a handicap factor for a novice member of a team. i did it all thru high school. "Steve, take advanced Physics with us, you will bring up the curve." i think i got a B. i seem to remember a 26/100 on one test.

What Richard said is right, the team competition is optional. The event will have the usual scoring ( individual ) and a scoring for the team competition.
The team competition is only to have something different for that event.
Recruit your team members and come up with some good name.
Here the first team:

"The Rules Committee"
Kathy Gleason
Vincent Keene
Art McDonald
Patrice Bousquet

Sally and I are recruiting the following people:

1) A domestic car driver
2) A european car driver

One of those folks must be on street tires.

Mike Whitney - you could be the European car driver, then we just need someone fast on street tires... In a domestic car.

Paging Graham Jagger... You want to be on a team with the rest of us?

Scott

Not 100% sure I'm coming yet. And if I go, I will probably not be running the red BMW :) I might be in a CS Miata on street tires, or a SSM Miata on old crusty race tires. Or maybe something else.

If we don't get a response I will don a wig and an apron and dare someone to challenge me

If anyone would have an old 914 as a European teammate, I'd be glad to join you. Shoot me an email jason@cmppls.com.
