He has a red one that he said he would sell to a THSCC member for $3K or rent for $100 p/day. Comes with race tires

No, my permanent number registration was old. Someone kindly informed me that my diff put me in STX. No biggie.

I'm already doing something for Christine. Didn't you see who one of my teamates is. I'm supposed to keep him out of trouble so Christine can relax  That'll be a full time job by itself... and then I have to keep the other trouble maker from showing up in only an apron...

Poor Katie. She has no idea what her DAD volunteered her for  Obviously Walter is punishing her for something.

This team challenge thing is getting to be a lot of work

Unfortunately, academic responsibilites are forcing me (and Lesley) to withdraw from tomorrow's autocross. I've emailed Jim and Neal (my team members), so they are now open to recruitment. Sorry guys, hope to see you at the next one!

Here are the results of the International Intrigue Challenge held April 23rd in conjunction with the International Intrigue Autocross at the Dealers Auto Auction in Greenville. Alas, the event chairs' curse struck "The Rules Committee", and the "The Beat Down" team stepped up and took the very handsome trophies created by Vincent Keene. The first three places were very close.

The rules were as follows:
a) The best net times of all members of each 4-driver team were totaled to determine the team score. (Low score wins)
b) Each team must include exactly 1 American car
c) Each team must include at least 1 European car
d) Each team must include at least 1 Asian car
e) Each team must include at least one woman
f) Each team must include at least one car on street tires.

1. 172.986 - The Beat Down

Amy Mindick (W), LAD 17, 1999 Miata Asian ST
Jason Panciera, DSP 0, 1974 Porsche 914 Euro
Randy Melton, ESP 12, 1999 Mustang American
Les Davis, SSM 91, 1996 Miata Asian

2. 173.602 - The Rules Committee

Patrice Bousquet, AP 78, 1973 Porsche 911 Euro
Kathy Gleason (W), AP 87, 1973 Porsche 911 Euro
Art McDonald, ESP 30, 1990 Ford Mustang American
Vincent Keene, STT 6, 1988 Honda CRX Asian ST

3. 173.751 - No Rain Please

Scott Johnson, X 23, 2000 Celica GTS Asian
Sally Johnson (W), X 32, 2000 Celica GTS Asian
Keith Quistorff, BMW, Euro ST
Ernie Manzella, Camaro, American

4. 181.886 - Team No Pressure

Robert Plank, ASP 21, 81 911 Euro ST
Cathie Taylor (W), LAD 1, Miata Asian
Jim Pastorious, ES 36, 94 Miata R Asian
Neal-Bob Harrington, CSP 8, 88 Fiero GT American

5. 184.219 - emaN maeT

Rob Lupella, ES 13, 1990 Miata Asian
Graham Jagger, SS 56, 2002 Corvette Z06 American ST
Katie Houston (W), LAD 8, 1987 BMW 325 Euro ST
Kevin Allen, ESP 25, 2005 Stolen WRX Alien

6. 186.504 - Team Why Bother

Patrick Wellenius, STS 15, Euro Thug Mercedes Euro ST
David Spratte, GS 18, Asian Hairdressers car Asian ST
Christine Allen (W), ESP 2, 05 Wrex Asian
Walter Houston, SM 3, Yeehaw Camarooo American

7. 190.263 - The Long and the Short of It

Michelle McRoy (W), LAD 61, Mini Euro
Paul McRoy, SM 2, MGB Euro
Newsome Moore, Impala SS American ST
Michael Westerfield, Prelude Asian

8. 200.851 - Low Expectations

Gordon Taylor, Miata Asian
Gwen Baake (W), Mini? Euro
Bernie Baake, Mini? Euro
John McBride, Mustang American

ADDITIONAL AWARDS (as advertised in the very first post on this thread):

BEST TEAM COSTUME - the competition for this one was about non-existent, so I threw it to Christine's team (Team Why Bother) since she was wearing a "Carolina" shirt and did a better job of that than either Scott or me. Their prize: two packages of Hawiian shirt air fresheners.

BEST PADDOCK DECORATIONS - again, this was just pitiful. However, I noticed that Graham pitched a tent in the paddock behind his 3M Painters Tape Special (to keep his equipment dry, he said) so "emaN maeT" won a SpongeBob Squarepants bubble kit.

BEST TEAM DANCE - Randy Melton's "Right Foot Stomp". How appropriate. His team, "The Beat Down", was awarded a plentiful supply of chewing gum. Given the charming simplicity of this dance step, they probably CAN dance and chew gum at the same time.

BEST FIGHT SONG - I had to block this out, right I after I recorded "Team Why Bother" as the lucky recipients of a large pack of Breath Savers mints. Perhaps they'll take the hint next time.

Finally,
BEST TEAM NAME - Since this name seemed to work, at least until the awards ceremony, we awarded each of the members of "No Rain Please" with their own cleverly named Hot Wheels car. At last report, Jim Pastorious from "Team No Pressure" was negotiating to buy the "Top Speedo" car.
