Probably a total shot in the dark but it looks like I will not have my car ready by this weekend. With the amount of work I have remaining and the crappy forecast for tomorrow, I'm resorting to begging for a codrive this weekend. I was planning on leaving early Friday morning to get in a little practice time but that's fairly flexible.

If nothing comes up I'll still head on down there and possibly take my chances with the CRX. It has a mildly slipping clutch (among a few other as of yet unresolved issues) but would probably make the trip just fine. I really hate showing up with a half-ass car and considering my limited experience driving it, anything would probably be just as good for this weekend.

If you're heading down and have an open seat available, I'd be grateful to share it with you. PM me with any options and we can work out the details at that point. I already have a hotel room paid for which I can share with anybody interested as well.

Thanks,

Jim

I wish I were going too, but I just got the cylinder head back from the machine shop and will be bolting everything together this weekend. - AB

Jim, If I was going to get there in time for the Tour practice I would let you co drive. But unfortunately I will be getting there mid way through Sats runs.

Just spectating this weekend for me.

The Pro, however, I will be getting my arse handed to me in a basket!!! If you need a car for the Pro and don't mind driving an underprepped Miata, you are more than welcome.

Todd

We're not doing the Tour, just the Pro.

Jim, what all do you have to do to the crx? I'd hate to see someone not make it due to a few small things (same boat I was in for the past 2 autocrosses). I seem to take CRXs apart for fun so I'd be glad to help you out some if there's something you need. I'm unemployed right now so I've got some time on my hands other than possibly driving to Fayetteville at some point tomorrow.

Thanks Todd! It looks like I'm covered this weekend. You should be there just in time to see me get my butt handed to me!

It's going to take a force of nature for me not to have the car ready for next weekend. Of course, that's what I said this week... Thankfully all of the problems that confronted me this week should be gone by next week allowing me to get the car ready.

If some unforseen problem pops up with the car for next weekend, I may take you up on your offer. I have some wheels and tires that would fit perfectly on your car.

I wish it were only a few small things at this point. The current list includes: new timing belt + water pump, new crank pulley, finish the bushings, put the suspension back on the car (with a proper alignment), new brake hardware, new header, finish battery relocation and install a new intake. I'm probably forgetting something unfortunately. Oh yea, install a new clutch.

With the forecast tomorrow and no garage, I just don't see it getting done. I'll get to most of it, however. I think even if some miracle happened and I was able to get all of it done, I would feel a bit nervous about driving 5+ hours to Atlanta with that much work just completed on the car. I'd feel a lot more comfortable having an extra day to drive the car around locally to make sure nothing fell off (which is entirely possible given my mechanical skills).

The plan was to get as much of it done as possible by Thursday but after wasting so much time on the stupid bushings and having to deal with life, it didn't work out too well. I appreciate the offer and may look you up next week if you're really bored and still want to help.

I actually just got a brand spanking new set of Azenis mounted today so tires aren't really an issue unless you have something better. I'm not sure how connected I will be to the internet this week, so if you need a ride and don't hear from me, just show up. I'll be there friday for the practice. I gotta figure how to start on a tree!!!!

Or you can try to call me. 919-215-8218. I'll be staying in the mountains of GA so I'm not sure how the reception will be.
