Had a lot of fun tonight, and I hope everybody else did, too. My wife had her first spin ever, and I got it on film-I mean digital!

I put up some pics here http://kevinmallen.home.att.net/rbc101003.htm

Later!

Kevin

PS - Jim F. is a bastard. Miatas aren't supposed to beat Subarus in the rain! I guess that's what I get for giving you two big straights...

Sorry I had to miss it, guys and gals. Glad y'all had a great time. Sounds like it was a good event! :)

Anyone have a course map? I'm trying to keep track of all the possible courses there. Who did the course?

Mike

Results (text) have been posted. Congrats to Kevin for the open class (and overall) win, and to Jim F. for spanking us all on raw time.

The course was a lot of fun, it flowed well and allowed cars with some power to use it up the hill. I did the final slalom right once, and only once. That run was 0.5 seconds faster than all the others. Lesson learned.

Hey now! That's the beauty of 2-wheel drive!!! :)

The straights weren't as big an advantage for me last night as usual for 2 reasons. Firstly, I turned the boost down to 6psi which dropped my hp to less than 150 at the wheels. Heck, those are almost Subaru numbers! :P Secondly, I still couldn't put that to the ground with those worn out Michelins on the back.

If it weren't for my madd skilzzz, yo, I don't know what I would have done.

Strangely enough, totally unlike Laurinburg, my car pushed like a dump truck the entire night even after reconnecting the rear sway for the 2nd set of runs. Sometimes I just don't get this whole car setup/balancing thing....

All in all it was a fun course and really made me wish the rain held off.

Jim

Overall a pretty good event. A 110hp car does not like the long uphill straights. Butif it had not rained I could have made the sweeper with just a little lift like last event there.

Actually, I am glad it rain or I could not have run. As it was, my front tires actually have more cord showing than rubber this morning. yes, they did start out with a little more rubber than cord.

Mike - I drew up a course map when I got home. Showed up at RBC with a few drawn up already, but I decided not to use any of them, and just set up what "felt right." Ended up a lot better than last time!

I'll scan it and send it to you...

Kevin

PS - I just looked at the results, and so did my wife... she wants everybody to know that she had lots of fun kicking your butts! :P (she didn't say that, actually, but she was jumping around and hugging me a lot) :D

Looks like autox school paid off! :D

I hate working the course at autox and I must tell you about it, often.

That was fun even with the crappy weather. The first runs with only drizzle seemed faster. By the time we hit the 2nd set of runs either the course was completely soaked or my tires were. The uphill run tied in with the sweeper was definetely hairy if the car wasn't settled. I'm pretty sure on one run that I drifted through most of the turn and into the first gate of the slalom. Pretty exciting. Surprisingly the Kumho MXs are better in rain than I expected them to be. Glad I have more than 110hp
