How many Saturday events would you want each season? Remember a season is usually 8 points events, and you can drop two.

If we hold it they will come. I like "any" day of auto-x.
For those who spoke of having a day to rest up after an event.....auto-x IS my day of rest.
Logistically, it takes more than just the event chair to set up before the event. Several people are required to get the bus to the site and set up the course and mark it. Still, I think that it is possible to set up on Friday eve. for a Sat. event, especially during the longer days of summer. And, running a little later on a Sat. night (extra + fun runs) probably poses fewer problems than a late day on Sun..
Saturday events hold the possibility of shifting our demographics, not a bad thing; but there could be more people running a partial schedule of only Sat. or only Sun. events.
Why not just have every event be a two day event :-)

Saturdays during the summer months are fine by me; just not during the fall months. That's all I'm gonna say or the State fans'll be all over me -- this year.

I don't mind one or two Saturday events a year but any more than that becomes a bit much for the senior officers. Why do I say that, well because we have an informal policy that we should have at least one VP or senior officer at setup. Their main job is to oversee course design for safety and logistics and I think it is very important that this policy continues to happen.

I don't mind taking 1 or 2 days of vacation a year to do club business (and I've done that for the past 3 or 4 years) but anymore than that and it becomes excessive in my opinion.

I'm first to admit that Saturday events might be more beneficial to some members, I think I would even prefer a few more but the fact is that putting on a lot of Saturday events would likely put more demands of the VOLUNTEERS that do step up and put on these events.

One thing you should remember is that unless YOU are personally willing to step up and help put together Saturday events by doing setup duties on Friday then I don't think we will probably schedule more than one or two a year.

However, if you can present a plan that would make Saturday events possible without overtaxing our staff then I'm sure it would be considered. I don't think any of the leadership of the club is unwilling to try new ideas. In fact many of the good things in the club have come from people thinking outside the box.

I think this year was great - 2 saturday events and 2- 2 day events. The 2 day events also typically require Fri setup. There's your 4!

Scott H is right - It ain't broke, why fix it?

I've got to agree that a mix of days is probably a good idea if folks can deal with a Friday (or earlier) course design safety test. Setup itself is not really an issue as long as a "known good" course design is in hand.
Same day safety testing and setup *is* problematic at best. Testing and setup at RBC this year on the morning of the event in the dark was not the optimum arrangement, I guess I contributed to some of Mike's anxiety ....

From the responses here and the people that have talked to me personally, I have no doubt that we can put together a quality team to do setup on a few Fridays each year.

I realize that a responsible person, such as an Autox VP is typically present, but I suspect that as long as a current OR former VP or Pres is on site that the administration in charge would generally be ok with that.

It's interesting that out of almost 160 registered forum users we only have 60 votes. I guess it baffles me that the rest of the folks don't have an opinion on this. Either that or they don't use a computer all day like I do?

BTW, I *tried* to vote twice but it looks like someone already thought of how to stop that.

I would be glad to work a Saturday event, like Vince it would give me an excuse to burn a vacation day. I could always do chores on Sunday.
