Looking at replacing one or both miata seats and would really like to find some folks willing to let me sit in their race seats before I actually order anything. Only interested in fixed back race seats in the $100-300 price range. My list of good fits for the miata include Sparco Sprint/Speed, Corbeau clubman/forenza, Momo Start/T-frame, Ultrashield , OMP ECO, Kirkey etc.

I'm not sure of the weights on all the seats, but the goal is to get as close to 15lbs as possible without going under due to 15lb min for STS2. It is my understanding that you can add weight to a seat to meet the 15lb min, but the details of what would be an acceptable in terms of how to go about it are unclear to me.

So if you have experience with any of the above seats, please share. :D
If you have one I can try out let me know.

I have Corbeau Forzas... I like them, although I will probably pull the driver's side if I have to travel more than 4 hours in it. They're pretty comfortable and very supportive. They weigh 16 lbs without mounting hardware, which is also a positive 8) I'll be in town this weekend with the Celica, so you can give them a sit - AB

I've got the Forza's in the old Celica as well. My understanding is that they have changed the new ones slightly? Might have lowered the butt a little more (less padding, but they ship with a padded insert).

The forza that I have, has an insert that's about 2" thick. Pull it out and you are basically sitting on the bars. It does solve the helmet headroom problem though.

Wow.. it looks like the forenza is a popular choice. Thanks for offers to sit in/try on. Do any of you feel like the Forenza is a little to wide either for lack of snug fit in hips or difficulty fitting into a small car? The specs I found show a 20in base and max width of ~22in (in shoulder area). They seem to suggest that the Foreza is ideally for waist sizes 36-38, and the clubman is for up to 36 in waist. :?:

Scott I'll call ya for a time to try it out since you live less than a mile away. :D

Edit found fitting info says "up to 36-38 in waist" rather than this being ideal waist size.

Kevin,

Thanks for the offer, the FX1 looks like a very nice seat.

I've reviewed the specs and it won't fit in my little miata :(

Thanks to everyone for the offers. So far I've sat in the Corbeau Forza, which feels a little wide through the hips and the Momo Start (fiberglass shell type seat), that fits rather nicely but may be a bit hard on my back side just driving to events. :?:
I suppose I could add some extra padding. :D

Does anyone have a Sparco Speed or Sprint? Another one I'd like to try is the Momo T Frame.

Patrice, the Ultra may still be an option but I'll try to find a less expensive option first. (Best price I could find on ht e Ultra was like $369)

Both those sparco seats are made for small italian framed people. IF you think the Momo start was about right then you will think those are right-to-snug

Are you saying the Sparco Speed and Sprint are similar in size to the Momo Start or that they are even Smaller? And what about the Momo T frame? Is the T frame essentially the same as the Sparco Sprint?

I think the Momo Start is about as small as I care to go.

Thanks Dan

I have sat in every Sparco seat out there. I have also sat in Momo Start and T frame, as well as the Corbeau Forza, I and II and FX1.

The Sprint and Speed are the same, fitment wise they differ mainly in mounting, side vs bottom. They are snug. I can fit in the ForzaI, but would not like to for any length of time. The Start was almost painful, fro me, and the Sprint and Speed were pretty much the same. The FX1 is more roomy, but also quite hard on the bottom. The T frame was a while ago, and I want to say it was slightly bigger than the Start.

As a side note the only Sparco seat I fit in well and would actually buy fro myslef is the Evo2

Krause & England used to have a Sparco EVO (thinner then EVO2) seat in their showroom.
