That is not what I am talking about. For example D-Stock driver Betty wants to tests their skills against national or regional competition. To do this, they will need to move up to r-compound tires. This will involve some testing and set up to get comfortable with the tires. Normally this is done at the local level.

So will any one in D Stock have an issue with Betty running r-compound tires?

Jim,
In that case I'm not sure. Maybe allow the D-stock guys in G-stock on street tires as a handicap?

We've been running the D-Stock "gentleman's agreement" for the past 2 years. In several instances someone has shown up on R compound tires, and in the past 2 years, they have never won an event. I also don't recall anyone complaining when those people did come out.

This discussion comes up every year, and we have the same answers every year. It just isn't a big deal. Worst case, all the DS drivers end up heading back to Tire class, or they decide to get race tires.

For '05, I'm not aware of anyone planning to run DS open class on race tires.

We'd never allow that, but we're currently considering a proposal to allow DS drivers on race tires to run in STX.

yeah, it would kinda suck for the GS drivers on street tires if a DS car on street tires was allowed in their class.

LoL. Isn't it though?

I think that the STX on R comps is a cool idea. Are there many other "exceptions" to the rule like that? I'd think that it may be a slippery slope in term of changing the classing rules. Ah, who knows...

As far as someone coming in from another club on R compounds and kicking D Stock ass, well, I don't think that it would matter points wise that much. It would just exagerate the point spread if they beat racer X and not racer Y.
