Well, I've only done one or two of the night events, so I guess I don't have a lot of stake in this. However, I do think Kevin Hoff's idea makes a lot of sense.
I don't have issues with people being competitive (autocross is a competitive event, and people who get involved in it are going to compete), but I don't know that having year-end awards is all that important. After all, you all remember explicitly where you finished in every event, right?
I think the best idea is to make sure those people who invested large amounts of time and effort in making sure that events were staged correctly and gave the "customers" what they wanted get the reward that they deserve. And I'm not talking about electing them to office, either....
