What a great event! 5 runs, great weather, and good food.
Thanks everyone who made this happen.

The only part that sucked was getting manhandled by the guy who won the class I was in.

"manhandled" - uh, I don't think any of us want to know the details...

I hope you guys weren't sitting there when Vincent was sharing his homosexual humor.

Running against an ITR was about like Mike taking it up the a** so I guess you could say he was "manhandled".

Thanks to Graham and Miles for putting to gether a fantastic weekend. They were thrown a bunch of curve balls before the school and made the most of it, fortunately the autocross seemed easy after that.

IMHO Timing and Scoring ran as smooth as it ever has, and we also seemed to have pretty good luck on worker changes.

We even started the drivers meeting ontime/early.

Careful Scott, you're on the edge of sounding like a elitist asshole.

Great job everybody! Everything ran smooth and I got to drive a Porsche all day (thanks again Mitch). How could it have been better? Well...if Rick would have slowed down and let me win...

I thought the course was one of the most enjoyable to run we've had at Laurinburg and we've had a lot of good courses there over the years. Kudos to Miles and Graham. Plus, having the opportunity to take a run at the course in Rick's S2000 was about the most fun I've ever had in a car :-)

Are you saying that the S2000 is actually more fun than a Miata? What time did you run in the S2000?

I was working the big sweeper during your fun run Eric. It was pretty much a continous countersteer/drift with NO lift. You were hauling a** around there!

Hah! Then I saw him run a 64.~~~ on a fun run. (He had me by almost 2 second after pax.... with a 66 something). A 64 would have been quite ugly.

Was I the only one who got a rerun then? I managed to suck so hard that the only clean run I had was where the timer got some kind of false trip (wasn't timings fault at all) and it showed a 30 time. Unfortunately I wasn't allowed to keep that. :P

Rest of my runs had tons o' cones. I think it was Shawn that pointed out I was only averaging 1 cone every 30 seconds.

Thanks a bunch to Miles and Graham, Kevin Allen (and Christine) and James Feinberg (sp?) for everything. The event went quite well. Also to the gentlemen with the blue CSP Miata who was kind enough to loan me use of his air compressor to inflate my tires to something even remotely near a proper level. :)

To respond to Scott's question of whether the S2000 more fun than the Miata is a tough one. Having not driven a lot of high horsepower cars certainly made the S2000 more exhilerating to drive, especially in sweepers (I think I said holy s*** a few times when the second cam kicked in). Having never driven an S2000 on an autox course I was a little worried about the two fast sweepers. As Vincent mentioned I was very busy in the big sweeper doing a lot of small countersteers all through the corner, but the car was very controllable...though that was one heck of a rush!!! Overall, I was very impressed with Rick's car, though it is certainly a handful to drive. I can understand why some of the top S2000 guys say it's the most difficult stock class car to get 10/10ths out of it. It would be very easy to get in big trouble really fast in that car.

The Miata is more exciting and fun to drive in transition (especially Donnie's new car) because it's amazing how fast you can go through those types of sections. Though the Miata is still very fun to drive in sweepers b/c it's so tight & precise, you can do whatever you want...it's like there is a direct connection between your brain and making the car respond which is tremdous fun. Considering how my brain works, that's not always a good thing :-)

Vincent, I think our time on that fun run was a 61.5, my best in the Miata was about 60.2. So, I was pretty happy with the time. I think Rick got about 8 tenths faster on his fun run than he did in competition, so he was really cooking on his run.

Props on the AutoX school too. Very fun course and I learned a lot from Kevin and Rob. I do feel obligated to prove to Rob that I have no form of mental retardation after processing the same input from him, getting verbal queues, and STILL managing to blow the offsets on EVERY run. /Homer/ Freakin' offsets /Homer/.

I wish I was able to arrive sooner and do a course walk prior to doing the group course walk. I would have liked to compare my read to Tom's and Chuck's read.

All in all, a good time and the design of the sweepers and gates immediately following was awesome.

That event reignited my interest in autocross. I had been sort of burned out and more interested in Rally. Thanks everyone! In particular, thanks to Steven Rankins who let me beat him in his own car.

BTW, my time on the results is wrong. My 63.8 was a DNF. Too bad too, as it would have been the same time without the DNF. My correct clean run (65.4 iirc) would end up in the same place in DSP though so it's not a big deal.
