Chuck and Donna,

Now that you are making the jump to towing, I just want to congratulate you two for the energy and dedication involved with multiple seasons of driving a Stock class car to so many far away events. Combine that with all the closer "testing and practicing" events and all the tire changing both involve and it is even more impressive. Good way to stay healthy. :!: :!: :D

Thanks Dick.
We changed tires as many as 16 times at one event, and it was getting old (as am I) not to mention the loading and unloading of car and tire trailer. For a national event we'd carry 10 tires as well as luggage, cooler, computer and a large assortment of support equipment. We put over 90K miles on the Celica in 3 years, not the best way to keep a race car in tip top condition. We also look forward to not having to find a carwash at each event site, arriving before dawn each day of an event to change tires and put on all the magnets, then doing it all in reverse before heading out to find something to eat in the evening, pulling in to home at wee hours of the AM after an all day drive, dragging the tire trailer up an 8' long 2' high ramp into the storage building we call our AX shed and taking everything out of the car so it's ready to drive to work the next day. We did get pretty good at it so it didn't always resemble a chinese firedrill.

Chuck - the first time you get to an event and the only thing you have to do is back it off the trailer and set pressures, you're gonna smile real big. Towing owns.

Yah, can't wait! It will be even a little bit better than that, because we'll be backing it out of the trailer! (going enclosed, if we're going to do it, might as go all the way!).
One of the biggest issues is arriving at a prosolo event site on Fri after driving all night with the car fully packed, having to unpack the whole thing, worry about protecting luggage computer etc from the weather, change tires, make 6 practice starts each, change tires back, repack the entire car, walk course, go to the hotel, unpack car again, go find car wash/supper. On Sunday AM get up extra early (national events FCO is 8:00 AM on Sun.) pack up the car arrive at event site before daylight, unpack car again worrying about weather protection, most of the events this season were rain events, then repack car after the event before leaving. All that plus two or more tire changes per day makes you sore and exhausted, interfering with your concentration on driving. It was inevitable that GS was in the first run group...
Now all we need to do is find the funds to AC the trailer...

Chuck and Donna,

You are going to be saving so much energy/work you better remember that your bodies will need a lot less fuel . . . :D You can help fund the tow vehicle fuel bill, and maybe the trailer AC bill, with smaller restaurant tabs. :D :D :D

Just so no one out there gets the wrong idea ... towing does not save any time at all. It justs shifts the effort from the day of the event to the day before and the day after. Towing is more of a lifestyle change than a "ahh, that's better, I have so much more free time now" thing :)

The morning of an event is awesome, though, just like Karl says. But I am sure some people aout there would be better off continuing to drive their cars.

It used to take me a long time trying to fit all my stuff into the Caterham before an event. Now I just chuck it in the back of the SUV. I declare it a time saver!

An enclosed trailer is even more of a time saver. Everything needed for the autocross is in the trailer. No need to unload the truck each time anymore. What goes in the truck that need to be unloaded each time
are: the children bike, clothing for the day, toys, lunch and drink for the day and that's almost it.
I even left the car in the trailer when we had an event the following weekend of an event. Just hook-up the truck to the trailer and go.
It's if you had to un-hook the truck.

Are you kidding me? The Mini in GS? I'm still trying to catch up to the Frank's in the Celica. So will the CRX SI ever get bumped to HS? Oh well, next year will just be for fun... kinda like this year!
