how does the scheduling of that work? I mean, do you do say, 4 runs per group and then cycle workers, like usual and just keep cycling for hours on end?

not sure I could physically handle 24 hrs of auto-x (or even 12). sounds awesome though

There is a "run line" rather than a grid. Whenever you want to run you just join the end of the line. The line can vary from an hour long wait between runs during the daytime hours to 10-15 minutes in the wee hours of the night, but there is a line throughout the 24 hrs. You sign up for a 2 hr worker shift in each 12 hr period, first come- first choice of time, at registration. Registration and tech are open before the start of the event, and for ~ 15 min at the top of each hour. As Shawn said, you declare to the starter if you are doing a practice or competition run before starting. You can declare up to 6 competition runs total any time during the 24 hrs.
Like our two day events you can register for either 12 hr period (Sat noon-midnite, Sun midnite-noon) or both periods.
I have seen groups rent a moving van or regular cargo van as mobile base/sleeping/eating facility. We just brought an alarm clock and moved to a quieter corner of the lot for 1/2 hr naps in the car. We would also bring a set of practice tires and a set of competition tires, make all the runs we could during the nite, then change tires and make our competition runs around dawn before it got real busy again.

One option would be to run the event Saturday in the VW and spend the night,

This is what I would do.

That's what Monday through Thursday is for. Friday is for getting ready for the weekend of racing.

Yes but one must consider the wrath of She who MUST be Obeyed!

j/k

I probably should just run both days in the Jetta. I haven't decided, but there is also the local site that needs a lot of work and we haven't decided on work days yet. That could play into the plans too. The 18th is the weekend before teh Wilmington event and we may need it. If all works out then I'll still try to make it.

Balance dear...find a balance! Get up early during the week and do your "honey-do" list. You'll be the best hubby ever and get weekends for :car:
