Adam, I know you like VW's and all, and thats cool, they have their niche and I like them myself. They offer certain qualities that other cars don't offer and thats cool. In general I think VWs are cool cars myself. But what exactly are you basing your quality presumptions on. VW hasn't finished anywhere near the top of any *quality* or *dependabilty* ratings I've seen in a long long time. In fact, in recent years, VW's biggest quality "victories" have been not finishing DFL in dependability and quality ratings. In just about every study I've seen in recent history GM as a whole, has soundly beat VW. Now, if we're talking about 20 year old cars, that may not be the case. But the past 5 years, absolutley.
Well I didn't say anything about VW's to begin with, I was commenting on the relaibiltiy of GM's and the Corvette in particular. Others brought up both VW's and the rabbit in particular. Then someone made a comment about how could I compare a rabbit to a corvettte, so I simply pointed out the recent autox as an example.
No as for reliability, who's info are you useing? Because a quick search of various sources, and sorry JD and assoc is not a very impartial source, shows essentially identical results for the last 5yrs for Ford, GM and VW autos. Now if you go back more than 5yrs then both Ford and GM fall off dramatically. If you go back 10ys on VW the same thing shows up.
And besides the fact that I autox a MKII VW I am under no impression that VW's are competative in autox. FSP is the only calss where a VW, a rabbit, is THE car to have.
But besides all this in case you haven't noticed I like to give people a hard time, especailly when they make it so easy;

Adam, I'm sure you're not going to start a thread on the capabilities of a VW Rabbit compared to a Z06.. right? You're not even thinking about going there, right? ...
