Hey guys, I’m planning on going STS2/SST next year and so doing I have picked up a set of 15x7” 35mm offset wheels with Azenis tires, 205/50. The rest of my car is still very stock (stock springs, struts, everything) and you may well know I’m not driving competitively yet, so would anyone mind if I ran my new wheels/tires this weekend? If so I guess I’ll go TIR ‘til next year.

Doug

You can run STT this year! No one has, but AFAIK, nothing is stopping you.

Yep. You can run STT this year. It is in the scoring computer. Just double check with the club officers about how to designate the class on your car. I can't remember if it is STT or SST. It would creat havoc with us T&S people if you have the wrong letters on your car.

PM me if you decide to run STT/SST this weekend so I can let the bus people know that we have someone in the class, since no one has run it yet this year.

I'll just go ahead and switch over now. Might not get new letters by Sunday but you never know. So it's STT then, instead of SST? I'll read up on it this evening. Why don't you bring out the Sunburst this weekend so I'll have someone to run against?

Unfortunately the Miata isn't quite legal for STT yet. I have to take off a turbo first. I plan on running it in the last event of the season.

Before anyone says. "Why would you take off a turbo?!?!?" The reason is because it is an old worn out turbo that only puts out 3 psi. Also, I have a problem putting premium fuel in the Miata when I don't have to run it in my Mustang. And above all else, the car would be no where near competitive in SSM against the Taylors Miata and Patrice and Kathy's Porsche.

If he's the only one, what bump does he get bumped into?

(Since I'm the only ES guy to post yet: I don't care if you stay in ES with the 15"s, but I'm still on the fence to go so I'd wait for the regulars to chime in.)

Maybe an ITR in DS.

I don't really know. That is a good question. I'm sure that the computer doesn't have the bumps in it yet. I'm sure it will be a streep prepared class though.

If anybody knows where STS2 bumps to, please let me know!!!!

Currently at Prosolo's they have been running STS2 with C stock when there aren't enough STS2 cars. I'm not sure if that is "offical" but it's what the SCCA has been doing with them.

The supps for Nationals also states they will be running with C stock. So I would guess it is a good bet, they bump to CS.

I'm not going to kill myself trying to get new letters cut by Sunday. I'll just run wherever I end up, STT, ES or CS. I'll still be DFL, but I'm going to have a good time regardless. I'm not really that interested in my PAX score anyway, just that I continue to improve. I may not even keep the 15s now, I came across a set of hollow-spoke 14s from the '94-97 A-package Miatas. 2 are straight, 2 are krooked :( but may be fixable.

Doug...

If you decide that you would like letters/numbers let Chuck know by Friday and he can process an order by Sunday as long as he has the color that you want.

Actually, STS2 will run with CSP for Nationals. Don't know why. Apparently the current PAX is very close between CS and STS2 and it has been fine for ProSolos for them to run with CS. But if they don't have 25 entries for Nationals, they run with CSP (and get pounded).

They will have their own class for the Finale, though.

Speaking of which, when are they going to decide on the 94-97 Miatas?

After nationals. Probably in the beginning of October.
