Very good and challenging course design! The Saturday evening cook-out was great since it was nice to chance to catch up with folks and the food was good. I thought it was exceptionally cool of Brenda and Christine to do the lunchtime grilling for the event - that was awesome! It made the event more fun, the food was really good, cheap, and it was nice not having to worry about bringing a meal to the event - thanks ladies! I had a McWhipple Meal on Saturday and a McAllen meal on Sunday :-)

Thanks everyone! Had a great time despite bringing up the rear in my class.

I did give Bowie one of my Old Speckled Hens to honor his car's heritage and his contribution to the club. Is that above and beyond the call of duty or what?

I would also like to add my compliments to a great event and challenging course. Thanks to everyone who made it happen. It was an honor for me to be a part of the 40th Anniversary celebration of THSCC. On a personal note, I would also like to thank Jim Feinberg for driving my car and beating me by 3 seconds. Seriously, I learned a lot in just two runs riding with Jim in my car and was actually able to improve my best time by 1.3 seconds. Yes, I did nick a couple of cones so I "coned" away a 69.8, but I would never have gotten even close if it wasn't for Jim. So I hope he really did have a good time driving my car. I know it was invaluable for me!

Jim was 11 seconds slower than my best time on his first run in my car. (w/6 cones do the math :() He...uh....then duplicated the time clean. Sigh.... I have so much to learn. :)

This is a perfect example of learning the limits of a car. I always (when I have enough tire) want to get someone in the car that can beat me, or show me something different. I think over time, especially hacks like myself, get complacent and feel their getting everything out of their car, until someone steps in and opens their eyes. - AB

I don't really think I can add any more kudos than have already been mentioned, but, I need to say it too. We had a great weekend! Even with a constantly looming threat of rain and a short sampling Sunday. The event, food service on site, party, course and all the folks just having a genuinely good time is hard to beat. Thanks to everyone who made it possible!!! :) :) :)

Oh wait, I can add something else. My sincerest apologies to the course workers on my half-baked, 8 cone run. That was rather rude... However in my defense I still feel Eric should have gotten the award on Sunday Kevin. Whether he was present or not

Thanks!!!

Great course, food and fun.

It looked like Christine and Brenda had fun counting all the money from the food sales. How do you think can talk them into doing that at each event

Even though I am a novice and this was my first event I would also like to chime in here and thank everyone who had a hand in facilitating this event. Emmett and I had a fantastic time. THSCC is first class all of the way. The entire weekend and event was a tremendous experience.

I'd also like to give special thanks to Graham Jagger, Miles Beam, Chuck Frank, and Micheal Westerfield for taking rides with me and letting me tag along with you guys a few times. Your advice and guidance made a huge difference throughout the weekend for me. I started out in the low 90's early saturday and managed a 75.X on my last run Sunday. Too bad I wacked a couple cones on that 75 run. It was amazing how competitive it was across the board even in the novice class. Those two cones on the last run cost me to finish 7th instead of 2nd. Atleast there will be 3 less novices I have to worry about competing with at Rockingham. 8)

OK, the picture of Shawn in the MG with it leaning WAY over gets my vote for "best picture ever"

This event gets my vote for "most fun you could possibly have at an autocross."

Barbeque. Good.
Burgers on site. Good.
Concrete. Good.
Laurinburg in July and only 80 degrees. GOOD!
Matt only autocrossing twice this year. Bad.

Walt Puckett and I are going to go check out how "the other half" live tomorrow night for a night event in Asheville.

Graham, sorry you got the coneage award. I definitely deserved it after a few of my runs that looked like an orange massacre :-) My apologies to the course workers! It took me a while to remove all the evidence from Donnie's Spyder last night.

Sincerely,

Conemaster E

This weekend was AWESOME!!!

Kevin, great job with the course. It actually was easy to drive in the Mustang. Not something normally said about an autox course.

Mike, The party was great, thanks for setting that up. But the best part of the party was listening to Aaron's stories about the "establishments" on the Tour and Pro circuits. If my wife heard those stories, I would never be able to go to one!!!!

Christine & Brenda, the WhippleAllen Cafe ranks right up there with the Angus Barn. OK, maybe not but they don't cook for us at the events. Sign me up for a burger meal in Rockingham!!!

The Bus People, Great job as always guys and gals!!! Because you did such a great job during the event, we were done with the post heats audit BEFORE they were finished with fun runs. Thanks again!!!

All in all, I think this was the best event I have been to. Can't wait for Rockingham now!!!!!!

Yeah kudos to everyone from the course, to the food at the event, to the party at the hotel it was GREAT. Thanks to ALL involved!

If you didnt sit down and listen to Aaron for a little bit at the hotel party you really missed out. Dude, you could take your comedy act on the road and do well. Im MUCH more inlcined to go to a national level event now than before. I gotta check out this Hugger place :) Peru Indiana here I come!!!!!!!!

The only thing that sucked was that my fastest clean time was the FIRST run on SATURDAY!!!! Now thats frustrating, coning away 2nd place in ESP and 10th overall raw hurt too :( Ohh well, I certainly know what the problem is, cause its damn sure not the car (Thanks Vincent).

Well I'm a little late but I thought it was a good event as well. I hate that I missed the party and activities but I had to take care of some family issues back home. Hopefully I can make the 50th anniversary party!

I thought the course was pretty fun but I couldn't seem to stay off the cones. From the looks of things, I wasn't the only one. It makes me wonder if that is more a function of course design or just everybody having one of those days (weekends?)? Considering I didn't make a single clean run Saturday as well as the last time we were in Lauringburg, it makes me think it is more of a function of the course type we wind up with there.

A special thanks to Rob and Gary for letting me drive their cars. I had a blast and I hope they really did get something out of riding along. Each car was well balanced and I thought the respective owners did a great job of setting them up. Thanks again guys!

Jim

Wow, I missed a great event, EVO's showing up in AS, and T-shirts to boot :(

Oh well, any chance I can pick up a T-shirt when I resurface this fall/winter?
