I hope to do that too Todd, just depends on what demons I find during the rebuild. But I have to get it running soon, the neighbors are already pissed that I have 2 "junk" cars in the yard  Hell one is building a fence because of it :furious:

What an A$$!!!! I hate those kinds of neighbors. If they didn't want a bunch of cars in thier neighbor's yard, they shouldn't shouldn't have moved in next to you!!! ;)

BTW - The car looks good. That was always my favorite body for the CRX.

Luckily I already have a fence around my house. Or my neighbors might have been coplaining about the rabbit that has been stripped to bare metal and on jack stands for the last 6 months

Hell here in Raleigh the city will only allow one vehicle on your property without tags on it. I had to get rid of my project car even though it was under the carport under a car cover. I almost walled in the carport to create a garage but I did not have the time to do that. The inspector also deemed my blue 210 was a nuasance vehicle because there were papers and 5 quarts of motor oil in the back seat. This was in spite of the fact that the tags and inspection were current at the time.

Ohhhh you know I got to have some bling bling :)

Actually, the plan is for 15 x 7 SSR Competitions  All 4 SSR's will not weigh much more than 1 of my current Mustang rims. Plus they wont make my car leak oil (Hi Art :) )

STS2 could be in my future, but after this year. I want to spend a full season in ES chasing Jim Squared. Perhaps two. The funny thing is that I have a coupla CSP/STS2 bolt on goodness items (intake and Upper Strut Brace) sitting in my shed right now.

Maybe an ITR in DS.

You *will* save money in STS 2. To compete with Jim^2 you will need to spend more on tires than you will spend on ST2 mods.

I disagree with this point. If the goal is to compete and get better, it will cost less. One set of Kumhos will do the trick. Hell, even running Falkens will suffice. So you save even more money.

The secret to getting better is to gid beside the MR2, talk about the course, walk the course with us. That will make you a lot better, a lot faster than any modification to the car. And guess what, it does not cost a dime.

Hmm. I have a 93 Miata in the garage, with the VLSD. And I have been craving a change, problem is the BMW works so damn well that it would be stupid to start a new car :(

Still, I could slap some Azenis on it and come have some fun :)

Anyone know of an internet spec-sheet writeup of a "killer" STS2 Miata? Just wondering what is "needed" to do well in the class. What does Jonathan Roberts' car have on it?

Johnathan may have put a set of shocks on it by now, but at DC he told me he hadn't even aligned it yet. A CSP suspension setup: coilovers, shortened double adjustable shocks, heavier sways, shortest widest legal wheels you can find suitable tires for, HD rollbar or cage, whatever chassis bracing from the later models that is legal to use, rebuilt VLSD would probably make a nationally competitive car at least this year. I got all excited about STS2 when it was first announced until I found out my 99 Miata wasn't allowed in the class.
Jim P: doesn't the MR2 fit the class?

No dice for Pastorius with the MR2. It's got too much displacement. I agree with what Chuck said on setup, but I would eliminate the cage/rollbar. The chassis stiffening is not needed when you can easily stiffen with sways/springs, and they weigh a heck of a lot less :)

Although Jonathan is doing well with a '90-'93, I think a 94-97 with an open diff would be a better choice. You can tune out a lot of wheelspin on a rear drive car with springs and a bar. On a front driver, it's a bit more difficult. :) Otherwise, I think a CRX could be really interesting too, especially an '89 Si that's not only one of the lightest, but has a lot of the '90 stuff that was desirable, like upgraded control arms and the like. When it comes to ECU choices, you cannot go wrong with a Honda. - AB

ST2 is the first class in quiote sometime that might actually influence my car buying decisions. We want a convertible, and while a "fast" one would be nice, I'm sure I can enjoy a Miata, and with ST2, run it competitively on street tires (making it budget friendly).

I'd even consider doing it with stock springs, just run a set of Koni's, some sway bars and a little chassis bracing, quite affordable! The 15" wheels will be the biggest investment.

Crap, if all the interested people join the STS2 train, I will be DFL 6th instead of DFL 3rd! That sucks. But hopefully it would make me have to be a better driver. Competition is good.
