That was by far the best class day I have had in STX this year, and it was some great driving. I think 1st - 3rd was covered by .2 seconds. That is how it should be.

Special congrats to Les for making that Mustang work for him. I think that today he proved how good of a driver he is by shaving a LOT of time off for his final run and jumping from third to first.

Man, that 5th run killed me. I think both of my competitor's fifth runs beat my best :)

I hope to be more of a challenge to both of you guys next time. Good running, and STX is turning into a great class this year :)

Thanks, Brian. It sure was fun going down to the wire. I second the congratulations to Les for pulling off a come-from-behind win. Looks like I can't use my tires excuse anymore (thanks, Les). Looking forward to the rest of the season.

Before y'all start gushing, you might want to check the results one more time (ie congrats Keith).

Yes, I fell victim to the "results are subject to change" clause. The un-official results that were on the table before the awards ceremony showed a best time of 47.7XX for Keith which led me to believe my 47.5XX was the winning time. This caused me to get a little "over-excited" and start running off at the mouth that I had managed the win in STX.

Unfortunatley, much to my surprise in the awards ceremony, the auditing found a 47.3XX for Keith destroying my win. Oh well, I still managed to be much more "in the mix" than I thought possible with a Rustang. So, anyway congrats to Keith!! You really don't need better tires. :D I would say, I'll get you next time, but I wouldn't dare be so bold, I think yesterday was about the best effort I can manage. You get more seat time in that car, get everything sorted out, and some better tires, and you'll be chasing down Hoppe's times leaving me, my live rear axle and 25 yo suspension/chassis design in the dust.

Thanks Brian for your good sportsmanship. I hope that I can provide you a challenge this year, but once you get a few more events under your belt, I'm sure I will see nothing but your tailights.

On a side note, I really like getting 5 runs, I vote that we always get 5 runs, even if we have to run until sundown every event. :P Maybe I should run for club president next year, so I can make our entry cap 100, so that we can always get 5 runs.

Yeah, congrats to yous guys! STX is really pretty cool this year. I remember last year there being very little in STX.

Me, I'm looking forward to getting real tires. :)

Wow. That is weird. I remember after my second run, I went up to my wife and told her I FINALLY ran a 47.373 (I was aiming for a low 47, hence why I was excited). She told me there was no way, since the guy had called out a 48.-something... however, I remember distinctly seeing a 47.373 . :) We wound up arguing over that all day, and I was quite surprised to learn i ran a 48.386 that run (I didnt get any of the numbers right, which seemed weird.) At least I knew what I NEEDED to win STX, I just could not deliever.

Mental Note to self: Don't drive like an idiot getting 4-cones and over heat Azenis. :)

It was great fun, and I hope I can stay competitive with my car. I feel like I let my car down as I was over-driving it. I have got something to work on now though!! :)

Hope I can continue improving, and now I have a new mark to shoot for :).

Thanks guys... oh, and "Biggly" should be joining us in STX in his Sedona Red Pearl WRX soon as well :) (SM car this weekend).

Yeah, I ran a 47.3XX on my last run and figured it would end up really tight by the end. Sorry I couldn't stick around to see you guys get your last runs in.

Kevin barely coned away a 46.5xx?? something in my car this weekend. It should be about the same amount of fast once I get it all STX legal; it will actually be losing weight (adding a little unsprung weight, but overall less) by the time I'm done. I hope to be STX legal by mid-July.

I ran a quite slow 49.2xx (I haven't checked the results online)...clean, but quite slow. Should have put me last in the class I think. Obviously the car is capable of far more...this is on a best-guess alignment no less. The Kumho MXs for some reason showed NO wear after all 10 runs at the end of the day which I can't figure out why. Either the surface, or the tires are heat-cycled to death, or a bit of both.

Should be fun in STX once I figure out A) How to drive this thing I just bought, and B) actually make the car legal for the class. :)

To whomever had the comment about how annoying all the WRXs are...that's the same complaint I've had about Hondas for years!
(Hondas can be made dumb fast for hardly any money and they're in nearly every class is my argument, although that's meant as a joke not as a genuine complaint.) :)

I'd really like to have a WRX! Nice car, but I would get sick of constantly being beat by BMWs
