I'm trying to figure out how I would have placed in Rockingham if I were in street tire vs. open class. I know this has been asked 1000 times, but it's the first time here, and hopefully this can be amended/stickied/turned into a FAQ/webpage if it is more complicated than just using another index time for TIR which I can't seem to find....

I'm able to calculate my indexed time from raw time in open class.

For archival purposes:
Raw time * PAX = Indexed time

So, what does one do to get your indexed time in street tire class from the raw time?

(I was running street tires, so I'm trying to see whether I'm better off staying in CS or moving to TIR/CS-T, and will probably do another calculation at the next official event.)

Thanks,
--Ashraf

It's the same calculation open class or street tire class, the only difference is how you register for the event.

We just separate the two because there is a definate distinction between race tires and street tires. At most events if you look at the overall index list everyone is mixed together.

There is always talk of adding a "street tire" factor to the street tire cars, but it just can't be done effectively. At a site like Sanford, it's quite possible that the street tires are just as fast as the race tires.

That's what I get for trying to do simple math so early in the morning.
Made it way more complicated than it should have been.

I knew I was doing something wrong when I was thinking about taking a derivative ;)

Thanks,
