Looks like it is a little late in the year. From my understanding someone said we SHOULD have it in Laurens and that has mushroomed into we ARE having it at Laurens.

Ain't Laurens in South Carolina? Kind of sad we can not find a site in North Carolina :(

I thought that having the North Carolina Autocross Championship in South Carolina was a bit odd also, but I just figured that they wanted it there since it is a nice BIG site that could handle the crowd. BTW- Who is going to be hosting the event?[/b]

CCR (my current local group) is going to be hosting. Being closer to my house, I'm happy ;) - AB

There's no new news on the Laurens 2004 NCAC. As agreed by the 4 clubs' NCAC reps it's still planned to be there and CCR is planning to host it.

Steven (CCR chair) is working to find sponsors and the like now -- hopefully we'll know something by the end of July.

There was ample opportunity earlier in the year for _any_ of the NC clubs to offer up a site and event. The only club that responded was CCR. Personally I prefer a great site over strict geographic conformity.

Why not skip the autocross and do a North Carolina version of the Cannonball Run? Maybe from Asheville to Cape Hatteras? I'm so going to go buy an ambulance for this.

I was at Cape Hatteras this past week and saw a local contractor working out of an old ambulance.

What a spooky coincidence. ;-)

If you want to attend a large event to gauge yourself, I would lean towards one of the SE Div events. From the Triangle, the VA Beach one is closer and an easier drive than Laurens.

Both events should have a nice turn out and some top drivers at them.

As anyone who knows me, I have always been a cheerleader of the NCAC. But with no dates published nor any other information forthcoming, I am not holding much hope for it. It is getting a little late in the season to plan and budget for an all weekend affair.

Not that I have been the biggest backer of the NCAC, I did like the fact that it would be a one event deal this year, and was looking forward to it. I may need to join CCR and see what I can do to make this work. - AB

There is a contractor at the airport doing the same thing. He changed out the red lenses for yellow ones.

Disclaimer: This isn't a slam, just something I remembered.

"NCAC is a good way to find out if you like that crap." - Jim Pastorious, when asked about going to NCAC, Divs, tours and such at my first THSCC meeting. I still laugh when I think about it.

Not taking it as a slam. To do a two day event, you need to plan and schedule your time. With no date set, no venue, why not run a SCCA event at one of the two premier sites in the southeast?

I was opposed to the two-day NCAC event from the get go and stated that fact to the NCAC. Add to fact that I think there is only one NC club that could pull it off. And they ain't hosting it.

It was my understanding that the NCAC event is to be sometime in Oct after everyone recovers from Nationals.
