Bryan and I did the same thing at DC. My TireRack logo was really ratty from DC Tour, Atlanta, and Ft. Myers, so I decided to replace it Saturday morning... it was pretty funny :) - AB

Well, I put the Tire Rack sticker on at a gas station out of the rain, so I didn't have any problems. But when I put all the magnets on the car Saturday morning at the site (we left it there overnight) & took it out for a shakedown drive, the hood magnet flew off on the first on-ramp - so I had to circle around to pick it up. But the way I went, the next exit had these traffic circles that were wet/dry/off-camber, and they were a LOT of fun - so I didn't mind so much.

Thanks all. I think you've pretty much answered my questions. It isn't worth it for this one event. I really didn't care if they pitched my times in the wastebasket. All I wanted to do was drive at Laurens to check it out.

Maybe next year I'll consider signing up.

Graham

"Lincoln" locker.

Yeah, it stinks around town, it also pushes a little in slow turns, but it turned out to kick ass on track and is a nice cheap band-aid to my poor rear suspension geometry (lifts inside rear in tight turns). As long as you stay on the throttle it handles pretty well.

All this discussion about stickers only applies to national events, Divisionals are different: There are no required stickers or windshield banners. The only required markings are class and car number, which must be between 1 and 99. A second driver in the same class (ladies and open are not the same class) must register with the same number with a 1 in front of it, i.e if first driver is # 69 CSP, second driver must be # 169 CSP. Only 2 drivers per car per class allowed. Markings must meet SCCA (and THSCC) regs for size, color contrast, placement, no paper, shoe polish or window markings allowed.
Event format is the same as a National Tour or the Topeka Championships. Each class runs together in car number order in their assigned heat, the grid is rotated through 3 times for 3 runs each day.
Your quickest time on each course is added together for your event time.
You do need to be an SCCA member, but the memberships are for 12 months, so would cover the DC/VA prosolo and tour events next year as well as other SCCA sanctioned events such as CCR's 24 hrs du Mall, and the other SE div at ACU4 in August. The Divisionals are a good way to experience a national caliber event, run against and learn from some of the SE's best AXers. It's a chance to run some of the biggest fastest most open courses you'll find in the SE. It's also a social event where you'll be sure to make many new friends.
As far as having your shop manual, although it's probably a good thing to have anyway especially if you're planning to compete in National events, I wouldn't worry too much about it for the Divisionals unless you know you are illegal as only obvious violators are likely to be protested. (I'm chief of protest for the divisional events)

Didn't I hear that the NCAC event is going to be held at Laurens this year? Any word on when that will be yet?

Looks like it is a little late in the year. From my understanding someone said we SHOULD have it in Laurens and that has mushroomed into we ARE having it at Laurens.

Ain't Laurens in South Carolina? Kind of sad we can not find a site in North Carolina :(
