Your likely doing the right thing. I think most of the time it works. When I was doing it sometimes...

1. Someone would fall through the cracks. It was my fault as they would register and I would miss the email. I only knew about the mistake if someone emailed to ask why they were not approved.
2. Register without using their real name then never respond to my emails to fix it. Never sure if they were even a member or not.
3. Never register as they expected it to be automatic (not unreasonable, but not how it work)

Only question I have is if MSR or Bowie's list is the primary source?

Richard

Bowie's list is the primary on this one. There are plans to get MSR up to date based off of that data moving forward as they allow a CSV to be imported, but I won't get into the details too much.

Do ride along participants still have to be 16+?

That's never been the case for rallyx. There are minor release forms I have a parent sign before I OK children for rides. (and remind the driver to dial it down to "2" -- you aren't showing off, and it isn't a timed run.)

They're do need to be big enough to be fully secured by the front 3-pt seat belt, and have an appropriate sized helmet. (I've loaned out my old "doughnut" foam support a few times -- helmets are heavy on a child's head.)

(It's really a question for Bowie to answer vv. our insurance policy.)

yeah....wow.

also, 123 entries on a 120-entry cap? Is this a hat tip to the NCAA First Four where the last three signups have to play rock/paper/scissors or something?

edit...weather forecast may keep that number down somewhat, though

At least there will be shops nearby to purchase umbrellas I guess.

Just in case, I'm going to swing by the Walmart and see how many emergency ponchos I can round up for the rookies. Don't want them to get miserable out there if it does rain.

Trash bags. ("lawn and leaf" size)

I've carried a few ponchos since the Charlotte LeMons race. (I needed a canoe there)

I bought a bunch of ponchos, a bit more sophisticated for the Cary audience I think.

Will have to tag along with the novice walk though and hand them out. I also picked up some white masking tape as we ran out of some numbers and class sheets for someone with a blue car last time.

Thanks for posting results so quickly!

Thanks also to the course designers for what is probably the best course layout possible on that site. Plenty of room for big cars makes a big difference for having fun even if the site is too small and the grip level too low for high power cars to use our power. Good throttle management practice.

Thanks to everyone responsible for doing all the hard work of setting up, running, and tearing down the event!

Thanks for putting this event on. I had a great time at this event as well as the earlier one in Danville. I appreciate how welcoming and helpful everyone was, both to me and to my old sports car.

Best,

Michael Byrne

PS: I am totally hooked on this.

Well that looks a lot easier than the course I was driving Saturday! :deadhorse:

Nice job!

No kidding, about a full second faster than me in a wee little Fiesta ST, lol.

Granted, I was on OEM Bridgestone RE050s. I could have driven better though, I needed to carry more speed into that sweeper, and the fact I had to go through it twice, meant I wasted twice the time.

Pretty good suspension and sticky tires (RE-71Rs) make it easy to drive "fast" and still be significantly below what a fast driver would do in my car. Car easily had a low 40 in it even though I only got a 41.43.

Look at the vertical blue bar in the video. That is throttle percentage. Note how rarely it goes to even half height let alone full height.

Per Race Technology Analysis only 7% (3 seconds) was over 90% throttle. 90% (37 seconds) at less than half throttle. 60% (25 seconds) less than quarter throttle. Not exactly a power course.
