If you've ever wanted to try a Pro Solo but had concerns about learning the new format (which is actually easy to follow), would like to do it at a smaller event, and don't want to fight registration - this is your chance.
The Blytheville, Arkansas event is scheduled for March 6 - 8, Friday is practice starts. It's a large concrete site, former bomber base. Last year each side was about as long as a typical Danville course. The courses were some of the best Pro courses I've run in 18 years of doing these events.
The turnout is typically low for the event which makes it more fun, easier to learn, we get done earlier, and you have a better chance of making one of the Challenges (Bonus, Super, or Ladies). Gwen Habbenicht, David Spratte, Jennifer Bedell, Chris Peterson, and I are all planning to go. I'm working on getting Karl Shultz to co-drive with me as well. We'll all be happy to help walk you through the format over the weekend. Most people that do a Pro Solo feel it's the most fun form of autocross *and* you get at least 12 runs over 3 sessions...4 if you make a challenge. So, the days go by fast as there's a lot of action.
While it's a decent haul, about 12 hours from Hillsborough, it's a really easy drive. The SCCA hotel (Comfort Inn) is $89/night and shares a parking lot with a decent Mexican restaurant. I think we're leaving around dinner time Thursday night from Hillsborough and happy to have folks caravan out with us. We'll probably crash on the other side of Knoxville, then make the other half of the trip Friday AM.
The event needs 120 signed up by this Friday, so if you're tempted to do a Pro, this is THE one to do. Go to the SCCA site, Solo, then Pro Solo for details.
