THSCC Vagrant Class

Purpose
To make further THSCC’s standing with the SCCA by having a dedicated class of people who refuse to sign-up for one class and run it throughout the year. With no rules comes no masters; however, with a few rules, people like Rob Lupella can be eligible for an end of year trophy for competing against other people who don’t drive their own cars. Also because it seems like a good idea and got a few laughs when I talked about it in the past.

Rules
These are extremely rough and should probably be changed:

Restrictions
    1. You cannot drive your car more than once
    2. You cannot drive any other car more than once
      a. You cannot drive any car that is in the same class more than once (no hitching rides from 8 different STR people)
      b. Furthermore, you can’t drive the same make/model more than once (BS S2000 vs STR S2000)
      c. You must run with the same PAX modifier as your host
    3. You cannot run in another high level class (Open/Pro/etc) if you decide to become an autocross wanderer
    4. Probably going to limit sign-ups to 8-10 people, especially for the pilot year to see how it shakes out

Scoring
    1. Must have paid their THSCC dues for the year
    2. Will be scored similarly to a mixed PAX class (TIR in the past, Novice/Pro right now)
    3. If you raw time the owner of the car you’re co-driving, you will be awarded an additional point towards the event scoring (i.e. – 1st place will get 10 points instead of 9)
    4. You must attend at least 6 events to be eligible for End of Year scoring
      a. It is most important for THSCC participants to have a strong bushido
      b. You will get banned for having no bushido
    5. First place and last place are both awarded with a day to help Rob build his deck

Strongly Worded Suggestions
    1. You should probably ask nicely for a co-drive and plan to have a drive before the event
    2. Buying/bringing your co-drive host lunch is probably a good idea
    3. Trying to drive a bunch of different types of cars would be a way to maximize what we’re trying to do with the class
    4. Having your own class and number magnets would probably help, but bring green and blue painters tape to be ready for any situation
    5. Don’t feel too bad about trying to beat your co-drive host since you’re not going to be driving with them again for the rest of the year

-----------------------

This is just a really rough draft of an idea I've been kicking around for the past year or so. I'd love to hear some input and hopefully make this a reality for the 2015 autocross season.

If you're doing this right you should at some point be driving a non-magnetic car.

And yes, I'm talking about a 2015 F150.

Other than driving your own car only once this would work. (I drove mine twice)

I vote yay

I think the rules ought to allow a driver to compete in more than one of their own vehicles, assuming all other restrictions are met. I would strongly consider running my Altima (EDIT #2: if i could convince anyone to codrive it; it's a pig) and my S2000. EDIT: and maybe a certain Lexus

I have no dog in this fight, but I agree.

Also, as far as not running the same car but different classes, I think a bs s2k and a str prepped s2k are VASTLY different in handling (assuming STR car is setup up close to the rules). besides this point, Our club is VERY heavy on STR s2k's. finding non similar car's could be a problem.

As far as not running in the same class (2A), are you really trying to say I cant run an STR miata and then an STR s2k? again, as different as these two car's are, I think its still meeting the intent of this class if allowed. It also opens the year up to still running different cars that are quite different.

Last question... Do all car's used have to be running in vagrant, or if I were to get Rodney to let me run his car that he is running in CAM work?

again, I wont be running in this class as I have been unable to commit to much the past few years.

Well, I have no come-back for Patrice's reply. I checked, and he beat me in both raw time and pax in every THSCC event he ran this year.

There is hope for you next year, my PAX is going up and yours going down. :(

But it's an Abarth. Kind of like having a certain Pinto that haunted you back in the day. Sure, it's fast, but at the end of the day you have, well, a Pinto (Abarth).

I think the rule around the make/model should accomodate different generations. What if someone wants to drive an AP1 and then an AP2? Or a fox body and an sn95? NA, NB, NC? Practically speaking, with all of the rules as proposed, I can see how it would be difficult to both A) find enough different cars in the club and B) convince the owner to let you codrive.

Use the *SP lines. NA/NB Miata are the same car, but NC is a different one.
