Serious comments. In no particular order.
I think you'll find the rules a bit restricting towards the end of the year when you've already borrowed all the cars easily available to you. Would you really want to make someone miss season points because they drove the same car twice or otherwise missed a restriction? It's supposed to be fun. Vagrants shouldn't have too many rules.
Who is responsible for keeping up with all the "special" restrictions/rules and specialized points.
I think you could accomplish the same thing with an open PAX class.
That would have the following advantages.
1 - Folks that have 2 or more cars would have one class they could compete in.
2 - Folks that are stuck in a class by themselves could move to open PAX to find competition.
Not so serious comments.
Since you brought bushido into this, I think a more honorable name would be Ronin class.
I wouldn't mind helping Rob build his deck mostly because the only "work" I see happening is drinking beer and taking pictures.
I like the idea of adding points for raw timing the car owner but you should add then you also have to buy the owner dinner as well.
I really like this input. Ultimately, this is supposed to be a fun class and trying to rules lawyer around some stuff would be caught by a catch-all "have good bushido".
There are a few other considerations on how to run it, one of which Rob Keehner touched on, as well as some other work arounds. Other options on how to run it:
- X number of people sign up, and at every event the keys get thrown into a hat
- X number of people sign up, and at every event only 1 person's car is driven
With the first option, it's easier to navigate logistically; however, there is no way to implement bonus points or encourage people to branch out and ask people for co-drives. The second option is extremely fair on the surface and allows the bonus points, but logistically would be nightmare and could be potentially murderous on the tires. Also would be privy to whining about how 1st heat got screwed, etc.
Another option I've thought about keeps most of the rules in the proposal (massage them as necessary for people who own 2 cars, etc) but try to place an emphasis on trying to drive a good mixture of cars with various PAX modifiers. If someone runs in as many Stock classes as they can, they could theoretically be at an advantage PAX wise just because some of the classes have somewhat generous PAX numbers (PAX sucks, etc). So doing something like:
- Maximum of 3 *S events
- Minimum of 2 ST* events
- Minimum of 2 *SP/*SM events
Would encourage some PAX strategy, but also encourage people to drive as many radically different cars as possible.
