I was contemplating going, since it turns out I won't be able to race at VIR this weekend due to my car not being ready, but two autox codrives fell through and then I saw hotels are $134/night (or $99 if you're savvy) and entry fee is $85. That got me thinking, $85 x 151 entries currently seems like a heck of a lot more than ZMAX rent and insurace would be... Why such a high cost for this event, is the club cup going to be full of cash? And we'll probably only get 3 runs with that many people anyway. Or maybe they're planning on just cutting the last heat short 2 runs and close down the site?
:soap:

Damn, I'm getting grumpy in my old age.

$85? Shit you'll get more seat time for less cash doing a Hyperdrive with NASA this weekend.

I arranged to stay with a friend in Uptown for frees, but yes the event is expensive. They better have cool shirts and stuff. One of these years we need to arrange for our club to 'spread out' in the classes a bit so we have a better shot at the club cup. Seems like a bunch of us in STR.

So who is good in STR from the other clubs?

Noah and I are doing our nut and bolt on the car Tuesday and will probably drive down Friday evening. We had tried to do some updates but got snafu'ed so we'll have the same car as the last couple events and try the updates in the winter.

Remember we need to park carefully as a club to avoid the Golf balls. I think it's a serious problem at this place somebody is going to get pinged eventually. F'ing lame ass golf! :soap:

Wasn't Jeremy's car hit by a stray ball last year?

Jackie's car was hit a couple of years ago -- nice sized dent in top portion of a front door. Shortened long story -- if your car gets hit, don't waste your time with the golf club next door unless you can file a small claims case against them (and live nearby)...no matter what Z-max security tells you about it.

Cars apparently get hit there all the time.

FWIW, PDR took the dent right out, can't even see it was ever there now.

I think it is more than a FORTUNE, with all the "special" stipulations put into having an event there.

$85 is high but where else can you have such a nice view of cars running when your not working than from the stands!

A car can still run with a golf ball dent. A driver can't run with a concussion. I worry about people getting dinged.

There are several members iam not worried about as they are hhard headed enough. Yes I fit this group as i am still confident that over driving a course is the fastest way through.

I'm really glad you're bringing a tire sprayer

All ZMAX participants must impersonate John Sheally for the day.

See that there ^^^^^ that mean's I'm an old timer.

A point if you understand why that is an old timer joke
Another point if you actually know who John Sheally is
A last bonus point if you are able to put it all together and understand why impersonating John Sheally will protect you from golf balls.

:)

He wore his helmet all the time.

When his helmet wasn't on, there was some sort of mammal protecting his head at all times.
