So, I just got an email that my car was in Winston last night and I had no intention of autocrossing it next weekend at Cherry Point. Of course the gears are turning as to how I could rack up 600-800 miles on it to bring it out to play, but it's highly unlikely that will happen. But, it got me thinking about a bizarre question that I'm sure we'd see some mixed answers to...

That said, what the lowest mileage car you've ever autocrossed? For me it's probably my '97 Integra with under 30,000 miles back around 2005 or the M3 with 32,000 miles right after I picked it up from the first owner.

Hmmm, so ~500 miles on a F/I car is okay huh?

110K but that is probably not the answer you are looking for. :) I've never owned a car with less.

My WRX was right around breakin period...maybe 8-900 miles at first event. Proper breakin requires varied engine rpm, right? Seems AutoX fits in just fine

Probably about 1000, but that's because I bought the 2 in January.

I'm pretty sure I did a track day on the factory fill.

I think I hit about 800 miles in the BRZ before it's first event in Fayetteville in 2012. I was probably right around 1000 miles when I did VIR-Full.

It's only up to 10,700. I've only had one scheduled oil change thus far (and about 4 unscheduled ones).

I've seen some National Level guys bring cars with less than 50 miles out to autocrosses. - AB

Unscheduled oil change? Is that where some contracting company leaves sewage caps 8" above the road and rips off your oil pan?

I auto crossed my 08' and 11' GT mustangs with 1k-1500 miles . No issues. Running leaded gas at VIR around 15k was another story though. :D

I recall many years ago Shawn and I were autocross instructors at a charity event at VIR. There was a guy there with a 5 series BMW with less than 50 miles. He had picked it up that day.

That was also the day Shawn learned why Viper drivers don't wear shorts. :-)

I'm pretty sure my '03 Mustang was autocrossed at just over 100 miles, the owners manual said "no extensive break in procedure required, avoid prolonged highway driving" or something to that effect, I took that to mean I should drive it I stole it. An autocross was perfect. :)

That was long time ago but I think our 90 Civic SI had like 600 miles. Last year the Abarth had like 1500 miles.

My 2006 NC Miata had 750 miles at it's first AutoX. It was under warrantee! It now has 64K miles with very minor problems; bad gas cap, broken dip stick, and two money shot clutches. Nothing related to break in. Originally break in was used to flush out all of the manufacturing gorp, break sharp edges, and polish/harden the cylinder bore. I think that engine building technology has improved significantly. Your Focus ST engine was orignially designed by Mazda (MZR) so it should be a good one. You should look at your car, a Volvo C30/S40, and a MazdaSpeed 3. They are very closely related and share many parts.
