I agree. This was a great event. The course wasn't nearly as bad as it looked on the walk through. It was lots of fun.

Before people start wondering about when the results will be posted on the web....I deleted them. By no fault of my own. One of my cats sat on the keyboard and screwed up alot of files. Sorry. There are no longer any proof that we even had an event yesterday. The rawsheets were lost to the wind whilst traveling down US1. Again, I am truly sorry.

Seriously, I forgot the rawsheets in the bus and will be picking them up tomorrow. I have to make a couple of additions to the file before I send them to ME for posting. They should be up in the next couple of days. :nana:

We had a great time! Loved the course!

By the way, even if you don't trophy, you should hang around for the presentations. They're a lot of fun, and definately part of the whole social aspect of the club.

Oh, and the fun runs were...interesting. The rev-limiter got a work out on that course!

I have to agree that the event went very well. Ryan and Amy did a great job and I'd also like to say good job to Patrice, since this was his first event as general manager. For those of you who don't know what that means, simply put the general manager is the senior officer who is the responsible for that event. The other officers help out, but the general manager is the person making sure that setup happens and that the course is safe.

Oh, and if you didn't like that first slalom, I'll have to take some of the blame for that. I've basically pushed for us not to use that taxiway at Sanford since it is so narrow that we have had cars end up in that ditch before. Since we used some of the taxiway to make the course layout work, I think Patrice erred on the side of safety by making them put a slower element in that area. I think it was the correct decision. You will notice that we didn't have to put in any calls to the Jim Pastorius towing and recovery service Saturday. :D

Another happy customer. Sorry we had to bug out early, but that happens sometimes. Thanks to Patrice and the other officers for giving me a weekend off (they didn't even realize it). I showed up late and did very little "officer" stuff, it was a nice break.

While the taxiway was tight, once I took my head out of my butt, I was able to see some "fast" lines on the rest of the course, it was actually quite fast right up to the offsets at the finish. I know I had a high 48 second run in my, but I lost concentration and decided not to slow for the final offsets, and that isn't the best way.

Thanks to all the competitors that behaved responsibly and helped make the event a good one!

Scott

I'd like to request that we not grid off the pavement in the future. Sanford is gritty enough as it is without the need for a fresh coating of stones on the tires with each run.

I found the event quite fun despite my numerous cones. I came in 3rd in class. One thing that a little birdy mentioned to me is that the 2nd place in H-Stock was illegal, which means I should have been second.

Can anyone confirm/deny this? Sure my runs weren't great, however I make QUITE certain that my car is legal for whatever class that I happen to be participating in, no matter how minor the infraction might be.

Thoughts anyone? Apparently I would have to protest in order to change things. Due to some obligations (and folks coming over to my place) I couldn't stick around for trophies.

From my understanding your are correct about the legality of the the 2nd place HS car. However you must protest before the event ends, its too late now

What made the car illegal? Did the competitor know it was illegal? Did the illegal modification really give the car a competitive advantage?

Guys, before this turns ugly - I'd like to mention:

We would greatly prefer that questions about a car's legality be FIRST brought up with the person in question! Peer pressure at the event works wonders. If the person is unruly or isn't willing to work something out amongst friendly competitors, then protest his ass.

Whether it was illegal or not, it don't matter unless you talk to the person or do something about it at the event.

I didn't pay attention to the car. Basically I don't care; I didn't even think about it until someone else brought it up to me the evening after the event is over. I have no idea of the person's name and won't until the results are posted. I'm just annoyed hearing it after the fact because I am so particular about car classification. I'd rather run in SM before running illegally in another class just to be competitive.

In short, I'm 8) with where I am...just wondering what others thought.

Thanks for the input Mike! :)

To bring this back on topic I would like to say thanks to all involved with making this a great event. The course was very tough, but it was enjoyable. Even though I ran like crap (my own fault) I had a great time. Highlight of the daty was catching a ride in a coworkers S2000. Who knew Hondas could be that much fun.

I look forward to getting my head out of my ass, and doing better at The Rock.

Once again thanks to all participants for making the event run smoothly.

Adam,

Thanks for the input. I have no idea what the club's standing is on this. I don't run with THSCC as much as I do other clubs really because I know so few folks here. The LAST thing I want to do is cause issue or havoc; I'd much rather continue to help the club. As it's too late, cie la vie. I'm far from fretting about it. However if I see that particular vehicle again I will not hesitate to mention it in the future.

I guess it's kinda like finding out an ex cheated on you after you broke up...doesn't really matter now, just one of those things. :)

Hope to see you there! (If I can make it.) I somehow managed to get you even though I coned every run? *confused*

What was that website group you were telling me to sign up for?

I do not know of any club that would allow you to protest after the fact. I believe all clubs pretty much follow the SCCA rules in this matter. Of all the clubs I have run with, I think THSCC does the finest job insuring the final results are accurate and fair.

Even if your protest was upheld, does not mean you would have been awarded the trophy. If you read the SCCA rules, there are a number of options the officiers or PC have available to them.
