Uhhh... yeah. Just don't ask me to get into this, being a reformed cheater myself. Maybe you should talk to him at Rockingham & work things out?

About the event - I thought most of the course was pretty fun (EXCEPT FOR THAT FIRST SLALOM!!! :P ), and had a great day even though I ended up with my worst final result (at a THSCC event) in over a year. That was a bit of a letdown, but it was cool seeing some new names at the top (not talking about PRO class, btw  ). I think I just got stuck in rallycross mode & couldn't switch to autocross mode. Taking that first left to head toward the runway, I got sideways 3 out of 4 times (the one time I didn't was my fastest unconed run). Fun, but not the fastest way to run it.

And taking fun runs in both cars & comparing times and "feel" was pretty interesting. I ended up going faster (by 0.01 sec) in the blue car - even though it was all wobbly on stock springs & smaller swaybars, it was easier to drive - which made the difference on a day when the driver was sucking pretty badly. I may need to rethink the setup on the silver car... :?

Anyway, thanks to everybody who made this one happen!

I thought the event went pretty well. After coning away my fourth run (my fastest of the day) I really wish I could have gotten one more run in to do it right. Wonder if anybody else in ES felt that way.

This might have been the most educational event this season. What did I learn: Don't go to a test and tune on flat spotted, worn out, brittle AVSi that you and your co-driver abused the season before. Anything you "tune" is to compensate for the fact that you have the automotive equivalent of skate wheels underneath you..

What else? ES is one helluva class to be in. Looking forward to the rock.

I completely agree that this was a very well run event. I have been away from the sport for about a year and a half and I was glad to be back. Some of you know that I was having a tire inflation problem Saturday and I just wanted to let you know I got back to New Bern OK. My right rear valve stem was pulling out of the rim and I was losing about 5 psi each run. I discussed this with several club members and I would have quit if anyone thought it was a real safety issue. Ahhh, but the ride home. There is much more centrifugal force on the valve stem at 70mph on the highway than in a 2nd gear AX. Lost 10 psi in the two miles to the Sanford Autozone. I gobbed up the base of the valve stem with some epoxy and lost no pressure on the way home. Not sure how the rim will look after the epoxy comes off! The point is I had the tires flipped a couple of weeks ago and the valve stems were not replaced. These were most likely the 5 year old factory valve stems, and I bought the rims on ebay. So remember boys and girls, check your stems!

Thanks for all the kind words about the event. I will admit that I was kinda worried when even Jim P. said the course was a bit TIIIITE. Everything seemed to work out fine though, except for my driving. This was a patience course, and I OBVIOUSLY dont have any....

In all reality, the officers of this club make it a breeze to be a event chair. My hats off to them for all the hard work and effort "behind the scenes".

Ohhh yeah, I will have to say this, You arent a TRUE THSCC member if you havent drove the bus. I got my maiden voyage this weekend and it was VERY interesting pulling out on to HWY 55 in Friday traffic

If it doesn't stall while blocking both lanes, then you did it wrong.

I had a blast. Thanks to all the people that helped make the event possible.

After looking at the results, I don't quite understand why there is a RSX Type-S in G-Stock. Isn't that a D-Stock car? I'm really not trying to stir up drama here...I wasn't even in that class, so it doesn't affect me. I just saw it in the results and I'm trying to figure out if there is something in car classing that I don't quite understand.

According to http://www.moutons.org/sccasolo/Lists/2003/stockc.html you are correct.

Moutons is so out of date they should take it off line. The RSX-S *is* in GS (the driver actually had himself improperly classed in DS at the start of the day).

<rant>Mouton's is NOT = SCCA</rant>

http://www.scca.org/_Filelibrary/File/r ... er2003.pdf

Go to page F-310 and you will find the most recent classing of the RSX-S.

IMHO it isn't a DS car, neither is the Celica GTS, unfortunately, the SCCA didn't agree with me 100% (I was on the wrong side of the battle).

For all those complaining about the corolla why do you think it is illeagal for HS? and from what I heard Jake's VW in HS has suspension mods. I want to know, I understand that we are competitors but the main thing is did we have fun? also think about this for some other people. when running a "stock" car it should be driven there and ready to run without changing tires. It should be ran on the same tires you run everyday.
And if you realize I only coned 2 runs away the other 2 were clean. so before you go complaining maybe you should try missing the cones.

According to the RULES you can do whatever you want with the tires. Its your choice.

If the other car has suspension modifications other then shocks, it was also illegal for HS and should have been run in STS.

Thanks Scott and Mike. Like I said, I wasn't trying to start drama...Just trying to figure out if I had some misunderstanding on the car classifications.

Is there a more current car classing guide than the Moutons one? Maybe we should look for something more current to link to from the main page.

Jake's car has koni red shocks and struts and he runs azenis for the autox. That's all that is different from stock on his car, and completely legal for stock class.

Removing body parts, such as bumpers isn't. Changing the intake path in any way isn't legal in stock. Stock allows any shocks, any tires that fit on stock size and offset rims, cat back exhaust, and front swaybars. That's it, anything else isn't allowed.
