I know the autox staff is busy working on a schedule, but just curious if you guys are getting close to being able to post up a schedule? I have some trips I'm planning out along w/ some 24/7 on call for work, so I'll need to see if I need to move any of my planed stuff.

Please post up if you have anything. I also want to let the other car clubs know what we're up to

Brice, thanks for posting! I think this may actually work out for me to get at least 6 events in this year.

So further looking at this schedule, it looks like we're getting away from what was traditionally running autox's the 3rd weekend of the month schedule. I'm assuming the "broken" schedule is simply due to site availability....

Site availability and conflicts with other events we don't want to conflict with.

Sites are harder and harder to come by (or maybe your site coordinator just sucks, you should kick him out). I will caution ahead of time that we may see some higher entry fees this year just to make the $ work. For reference, sites used to cost us $250, $400, and at worst $800 for Sanford.

NCCAR Circuit is $1500 and Sam is cutting us a deal. Some of the new prospective sites we are looking at are asking $2,000.

Wow....$2000 per site.

If it's a good site and we can pull 100 drivers it might still work, right?

Not necessarily a conflict, but one of the Novice Coordinators has already acommitted to an Evo school on 3/30, but should still be available for the 3/29 Novice School.

Seeing you drive the Vette last year made me sign you up. You didn't know?

Kidding. I signed myself up for the school. Need help identifying ways to improve.

Hey I got schooled by the other Rob frequently. So much so that he made me go back to driving my hairdresser's car (albeit with a bigger hairdryer if I can ever be home on a weekend or two to do the swap)

Three years ago I did some autocrosses with the Peachtree Chapter of the BMWCCA, and the chairman told me they paid $1400 for the Lake Lanier Islands waterpark parking lot. It was a nice, large lot with elevation change, but nothing like NCCAR! We've been fortunate/lucky for a long time with site rental rates (our entry fee is indexed to gas prices and inflation, right? :D )

What size/shape lot, etc. is used for autocrosses at NCCAR? The last one I saw videos of was relatively small and tight.

Thanks!

Dick

That depends.... In the past we've used the VDA which is about the same size as Greenville plus using part of the track. Lately we've been allowed to use the track itself for the autox, hence the circuit cross. Being able to use the track is where the bucks come in...

Here's a video from the first circuitcross out there this spring using the west 1/2 for of the track, which is a lot more open than the VDA/runway area that we've used for the last 3 seasons. I wish I could have made the second circuitcross out there when the east 1/2 was used.
