I put part of my right rear in the dirt on my second run. I'm pretty sure that's not the ideal line!

Edit: actually that might be two wheels off!

Best wishes for your dad Matt - hope all is going well.

I really regret missing the event today since NCCAR was so much fun last time. I'm stuck at home nursing the after effects of a sea urchin sting that healed quickly last week but then turned into cellulitis this week. Have to wear flip-flops, shoes too painful, so that wasn't quite going to cut it autocrossing. Hopefully going to make Fayetteville next month, but if I stay over am sure not going to stay where many of us did last year.

I heard about this at the event, ouch, that sh!t had to hurt. So what's the back story on this? Where were you? Urchins aren't known to be around the NC beaches....

St John, US Virgin Islands. Caneel Bay -- most incredible place, hard to describe how awesome the snorkeling was there, the scenery, etc. It's a really long story of why I was there that I'll relate to you in person.

I did a typical Chuck I guess: (1) first morning there, pickup complimentary snorkel gear; (2) approach water on one of 5 deserted beaches at this resort; (3) hear (but don't pay attention) Jackie saying "watch out for the sea urchins right there -- water is crystal clear, awesome visibility; (4) Tia and Jackie are ready to go, I stop to get sand out of flippers and proceed to back my right heel into one of these suckers right where Jackie warned me to watch out for; (5) pull up foot, bleeding from various entry holes, 1" long purple streaks, 6-7 of them, under skin already; (6) frantically wave Tia and Jackie over to me; (7) start the long walk back to the room with foot swelling and ankle not wanting to flex, pain is fast approaching fun level; (8) spend afternoon on deck overlooking Caneel Bay with foot in super hot water and vinegar mixture while drinking rum and diet cokes.

These things are around most of the rock formations under the water there, and they are called lime sea urchins or black sea urchins. Saw many more while snorkeling later on. Some of them are huge.

The vinegar/hot water worked great. The swelling went down by that evening, the next day most all of the swelling was gone, so I was back in action...until 9 days later (last Wed) when the area turned purple and swelled up in 4 different parts...cellulitis apparently so taking antibiotics. It's better now, but still purple. If not a lot better by Thursday, I might have to get an MRI to make sure none of the spline particles are still in there (they are normally broken down by your body and absorbed). Sigh... Still wearing flip-flops.

Wow, sounds like you need some Kevlar water shoes next time! Glad to hear you're on the upswing and getting better.

Unfortunately my dad is recovering in the hospital in the CCU so I wasn't able to make it. Looking forward to seeing pics/video and see y'all in Fayetteville.

Hope he has a quick and complete recovery!

Thanks fellows!

Glad the event went great and nice usage of the main straight down to the second entrance.
