No, ST* is a way of saying the set of Street Touring classes where your RX8 falls into STX. This is an open class.

RT (Road Tire) is a new *category* where all open *classes* that allow r compounds (ie all classes other than ST* classes) can compete on street tires on a PAX handicapped basis with an extra 2% PAX discount)

Nope!

RT = Road Tire (previously TIRE Class) This is a PAX class, such as NOV.
ST* = Street Touring * (STR, STX, STU, STS, STC, STF, etc). These are Open, none PAX classes.

And I guess we are saying you can't run NOV RT C-stock, being that this would put you in a PAX class within a PAX class. Once you move out of novice, you can run RT C-stock instead of NOV STX to get an even better PAX.

I was surprised to see that when I moved from NOV D-Stock to RT D-Stock, my PAX actually improved, but now I understand that is a result of the PAX assumption that in D-Stock you should be running R-comps.

I think I get it.

Right now, I want to be in Novice STX, since I am running street tires and ca't have a PAX class withing a PAX class. While my car is not modified to the level allowed in STX, that class still gives me the best modifier, since I will be competing against other Novice cars using street tires- like Lindsey last week.

Later, when I am not a novice, if the class allows R-comps and I elect to use street tires, I can be in the Steet Tire PAX modifier for that class- in my case, C-stock Street Tires, since I plan to leave my car pretty much stock, but I'll be running street tires.

If I modify it to a particular class spec *and* the class allows R-comps, I can get the street tire PAX modifier for that class. However, if I modify it and the class does NOT allow R-comps (like STX) then I just get whatever the PAX is for that class anyhow, since everybody is running street tires. The goal there would be to select the best street tire for my car/driving/rain/show, whatever.

Good. I think I might run RTR for the second half of this year.

There is no RTR. Just RT<class where R comps are allowed>

Okay, now I'm confused. Why are you allowing r-comps in a tire class.
