So I was at the Autocross this morning and before my first run I lowered both windows. Then after my first run I thought I'd put them back up. Well the drivers side is worked fine but the passenger side refused to go up. I decided to not get to stressed over it and make the rest of my runs. After my heat I headed to the pits to see if I could get the door card off. I got into that a little ways and then decided I didn't want to start prying on random bits of my almost new car. So I figured I'd drive home with the window down and block it with something.

Below is my first attempt to cover the gapping whole in my car on a 35 degree day.

Image

It was obvious as soon as I got to 45 miles an hour that this fix wasn't going to last until I got out of Danville, let alone until I got home, so I made a quick stop into the Advance Auto for some duct tape. I've always believed if 1 or 2 pieces of duct tape are good, 50 will far superior.

The funniest thing is I think I may have improved the looks of the car because a guy walked out of Advance and started complimenting the car and asking what it was and then when I stopped for gas the guy at the next pump complimented me on the car as well.

Clearly, you should have bought the Scion FR-S instead and gotten that legendary Toyota build quality!

Mythbusters style... Ms. Byron cut a car in half (with a fireman's rescue saw!) and put it back together with duct tape.

Years ago, I was with my cousin in his Pontiac Grand Prix GTP on a road trip in Alabama/Mississippi. Window got stuck down on the drive back, we drove 8 hours with the window down and it was winter. Good times!

I have to ask, but you did check the window lock button, right? :stick:

Hopefully you don't have any trouble getting all that tape residue off, some elbow grease and Goo Gone should do it, but it might take some time.

Good job, Shawn! It occurs to me that your ID still says something about being crap if it's not yellow. Might want to fix that before the new car really gets insulted.

That little piece of text is wholely and solely owned by the web admins and is not a user configurable item. That said, I think we need to start suggestions on Shawn's new web text.... So, I'll start...

Unless I was flat broke there's no way I'd ever have done that. I would have stopped at Lowes and got a cheap piece of plexiglass and used duct tape to plug that hole. Did I mention I HATE to be cold?

It was the driver's side that was stuck down (it never went back up after we stopped at Taco Bell drive thru). Once I figured out that the cold air was mostly blowing around onto the passenger seat, I chose to drive the rest of the way and was fine. :-D

It's going to the dealership on Wednesday. I can't find time to take it in before then.

I'm not sure who I have to bribe to get that changed. I think Whitney changed it to that a long time ago.

I did, but it never hurts to ask.

Well I got the car back Thursday. From what I could get from the service advisor the fix was to disconnect the battery/reset the ECU and then teach the up and down limits on the windows?

Oh and to who ever changed my location/signature thingy.... Well played, very well played indeed.
