They say the fastest type of car... is a rental car.

I was wondering if there were any rules or advice around bringing a rental car to an autox event. This is for a friend's friends... so that's about all of the context of I have. I didn't see anything in a search for 'rental' or 'rental car'.

Flame on :-)

I don't think there's anything in the THSCC waiver or docs; however, I can see the rental company not approving.

But... who said that the rental company needs to know? :D

I've seen people do it before. I may even know someone that rented a car to drive in a rallycross  Rental companies usually don't have the best cars for autocross but it can be done.

Make sure you check the basic maintenance stuff. I found rental car once with 17 psi in one of the front tires.

I wouldn't let the rental company in on the plans.

Yep, Stephen and myself may have done that a couple of times. It might have been slightly damaged when we returned it, but hey, we got the insurance!

Jeremy Ellison's dad autocrossed a rental last year :). From a THSCC perspective, if it passes tech, it can run.

From the Budget rental site:

... Rent the car, turn the key and listen to that V6 engine growl. 16-24 MPG

I've seen them at HPDE's and EVO schools. Came back with slightly more tire wear....
