I used Mark Cooper's magic white marker  and had him mark zero, 1/4 and 1/2 degree toe out on each side. After some testing it was clear where I felt the most gain from the toe out, so I used those white marks to dial it in for each event.

Not familiar with RX8 rear suspension, so I can't answer how much toe change affects camber. For the WRX, rear camber was fixed so that wasn't an issue.

So I had this completed last Friday. I have 0, 1/8, 1/4 and 1/2 toe out markings on the 3 now. The nice thing about the 3 is there is a graduated eccentric washer that sits flush in the suspension arm. On the arm is a strike mark. They used a scratch awl to add marks in the wasker and also provided a sheet of paper so I know what marks mean degree wise. Couldn't ask for anything better. I'll probably get some colored thin sharpies and go over the marks again to make it easy to set up at the event.

So, for the 3, all you have to do on this car is back off the nut, move the eccentric bolt and lock it back down. Nice and easy. Probably set this to 1/4 at the TnT and adjust from there.

I needed a lot less than I expected, as it turns out. Glad it worked out well, and hope you like the results.

One tip....don't forget to set it back to zero....Duh. I did at the end of one season, and in no time I had worn down the inner shoulder of the rear tires. :stick: Toe kills, not camber!

The Rival? I don't think you'll be disappointed as it sounds like a great tire. When will you be able to get them?

245/17s are on backorder til May. 255s are still $40/tire more, so I have some time to see if it's worth the premium. Maybe I should just go ahead and get in line...

Sweet! What sizes are you running?

I'm so tempted to get these as my next street tire if they wear as good as they say.

245/40/18

The 255's rub on the RX8's, then there is the whole added cost due to being a 4 rib tire so I felt the ends didn't justify and all that jazz. And my street tires (yep still gonna change tires at events) are the BFG g-Force KDW's so if I'm in a deluge downpour they will serve as my rain tires as they are 245/40/18's as well 8)

TR says it's the 265 that goes to a 4-rib design, but it seems like the price jump between 245 and 255 indicates where the 3-4 rib design jump takes place. Wouldn't be the first "typo" from tirerack on this tire...

from the description:
"g-Force Rival tires feature a Silica-infused compound molded into asymmetric tread designs that are performance-tuned to match tire width (255mm and narrower sizes feature a 3-rib design, while 265mm and wider sizes use a 4-rib pattern). "

Maybe Chuck B. can help the non-tire nerds understand why there's a difference?

I think it has something to do with the void area per section width. I know on the Pilot Super Sport the 255s have that different pattern too compared to 275s. I doubt the price jump has any relation -- pricing on these things seems to be whatever the market will bear in terms of bigger sizes vs bigger prices. I would suspect that margins go up with size pretty significantly.

Remember I asked you about your Civic's gas mileage one day? And you sounded like you weren't impressed with it. If you care about gas mileage in your daily driver, the RX-8 might not be for you.

The first time I saw RX-8s at an auto-X (Mobile, AL), one RX-8 owner said he was getting 21mpg. The other one said "Bullsh!T!!1!! I'm getting 12!"

Before I bought my Evo X (23mpg, BTW) I considered a 4-door Civic Si...

I had a 2011 SI Sedan. Only got like 22mpg out of it...maybe 25 if I was a grandma on the highway.

There's nothing like high torque at low rpm and a super high geared 6th gear. That's awesome.

The new M3 isn't anywhere close to that, but for a long stretch on Interstate last week on the way home, I had cruise set on 74mph and after a hour or so checked mpg, and it was 23.8mpg. Not bad, not Z06 good, but not too bad for 414hp in a 3500lb sedan with only a 4L V8 (although the 8300 rpm power peak is insane).

James you must have driven in a crazy manner to get such poor highway mileage in a Civic??
