So I see TSCC will be in G'boro Aug 26, and CCR has a 24-hour event over Labor Day at Dixie Classic Fairgrounds. I'll be going to both---hope to see other Tarheelers there, too!

BTW, can I get a pair of THSCC gumballs to put on the car? You know, club loyalty and all....

I'm thinking of heading up to VMP for the NASA event on the 26th. https://www.nasaproracing.com/event/1501 If you haven't been to VMP it is a bit more of a haul but not too bad, an interesting site and big piece of pavement. THSCC even did a couple events there long ago.

I'm thinking the same thing. Not a big fan of the NASA way of doing stuff, but still, I've always had fun there. Park & Ride is easy peasy though. What to do, what to do.

I thought about adding that one, but figured Gboro was closer. You think VMP is better bang for the buck given that it is an extra 100 or so miles roundtrip? I could care less about the byzantine scoring system NASA uses, I just want the best shot at good seat time.

Edit: how many runs do you typically get? I saw on the signup that it was lmited to 75 drivers...so 5-6 runs maybe?

Generally 5-6 runs, usually about 50-60 seconds. Good surface, course depends on who designs it, of course.

Yea, if we go it's just for the seat time, but I think every time we've been they've put us in a different class. They also wouldn't let two driver cars run in the same heat which messed with us for riding together. Still fun, but more of a pain.

Jeremy, I would think you would like it, there is no PAX. :D I like their classing system better, you can do whatever you want to your car and not worry about some silly little non performance enhancing thing bumping you into some ridiculous class.

I have gone through the check sheet, +58 points but the motor swap(2003 engine in 1990 chassis) is my issue.

How many points for a big 'ole FSB and 235/255 tires? 8)

Can't imagine too many...

It never fails, I always have to work on days that other clubs have events with 'new to me' sites. Can't wait for Cherry Point for NCAC though!

For the motor swap, I'd say just the points for the extra displacement from 1.6 to 1.8, and maybe something for the VVT, I don't remember if there was an entry for that. I'm also guessing you'd get a penalty for weight and tires, not sure if that was in your +58 or not.

Yes les, weight and tires were figured. Either way i can pay them to let us run in the same class again.

Haven't looked at all at the rules for autocross but for time trials they require a dyno reclass for motor swaps. Then you don't take any points for weight or power mods.

e:
Same for autocross:

1) Engine swap: All engine swaps must be evaluated for new base classification by
the NASA-X National Director on an individual basis, unless a base class for
the particular swap is listed above in 1.2 Base Classifications or in Appendix A.
Please refer to section 1.5.

I plan to attend the 24 hr CCR event. 50 or so runs will give me lots of practice and time to play with the rear sway bar in preparation the NCAC.

You know, this is something we should attempt to pull off. I think this would be uber tiring, but an absolute blast...
