I think that was a for sale thread. They get deleted pretty regularly.

Steven, It’s yellow and I probably won’t be taking it autoXing. I bought it more for track. I was looking to put an LS engine into the Miata and figured out that it was cheaper to just buy a 2002 Z06. I got it about 2 months ago. It was on the THSCC swap and sell, so you all got a chance at it. You haven’t seen it out yet because I discovered that in my years of running a Miata, I have never developed very good throttle control. I have never owned a car before where I can hit the red line quicker than I can floor the throttle. I have hit 100 mph on Leesville road primarily because I wasn’t paying much attention to the speedo. The Vette is a nice car, but it acts more like a hammer than the Miata like micrometer. It’s not an easy transition from Miata to Z06, but it is exciting.

I think that's the exact excuse Rob used to bring his Vette track toy out to a few AXs this year.

Mike, my suggestion would be to AX the car a few times just to get used to how it drives and what it feels like when it breaks loose. Better to do it at 50mph on an AX course than at 150 heading into the bus stop at Watkins Glen  You are right it drives a bunch different than the Miata in terms of throttle response  the hardest thing for me has been to learn to open the wheel and give it gas on track.

Bring it to a couple of AX's and then track it if for no other reason than to give James Short a case of the drools as he was thinking about pulling the trigger on some real American muscle. :P

It only acts like a hammer because you treat it like a hammer, stop treating it like a hammer.

Exactly. Mike, bring it to some autocross events with the plan of really enjoying learning throttle management and how it can help you position the car and control weight transfer so easily. You're in the best position to quickly ramp up that learning curve since you have great experience with all other aspects of car control. For those with no prior experience, it's too easy for them to depend too much on throttle action to generate rear wheel slip angle and fall back on that (slower way around a course) crutch too much when starting out with a high power car. You will really enjoy autocrossing that car -- perhaps hit up Les to co-drive it with you.
