Really cool course design. The first slalom was surprising fast! Thanks to the VPs who secured the site, and everybody involved in the event setup and operation. Great job!

Still wondering what running my fastest raw time with traction control engaged means, other than that I'm forgetful.

Whoa. That's impressive then and the only thing worse than leaving the A/C on (I've had to turn mine off midrun many-a-time) is traction control.

A/C shouldn't be a big deal. Most modern cars will shut it off at WOT and high RPM to save the compressor. Older stuff will get killed by it.

I have some videos. I'll get my fastest wet and 2nd fastest dry up soonish. I continued my trend of not hitting record on my fastest run.

And here is my 2nd fastest run in the dry with some data overlayed.

What about leaving the stability control on for you last run.. That is what i did.. would not let me do anything. That was annoying.

The silver civic, was it on coil overs or what was the suspension setup on it, anyone know.

A big "Thank you" to the Westerfields; I had a great time on that course.
This surface was a hoot running my full tread depth M+S, treadwear 420 street tires. The new Kumho ECSTA 4X tires for the street are commendable, but we chased tire pressures all day Sunday, and the breakaway, while progressive, happened at far too low a lateral acceleration rate. We didn't make it Saturday, but these would have been the tires to have in the wet.
I loved the sweeping turns at the top of the hill and just before the finish, the slip angles reminded me of rally-x (OK, so I did the sideways stuff on purpose)

Here's a link to my fastest run. Interesting to note that depsite 130* asphalt temps (air temp 92), my fifth run was my fastest and the tires were not nearly as hot as I thought they should be, given that I had only 15 minutes to cool them (no sprayer) from the prior run. On review, it's obvious where I lost time....
1) coasting into the 3-cone wiggle
2) coasting again into the uphill left-hander.
3) Not downshifting at the uphill left-hander
4) too early on throttle on the final uphill right-hander causing me to push wide.

Probably could've been faster through the first right-hand sweeper also. I think those four areas at the end of the course could have netted me almost 1 second. Sigh....much more to learn!

I thought going to 1st in the uphill left hander was going to be faster after day 1, but I also coasted into that turn all 5 runs on day 1 and was at about mid 3000 rpms coming out in 2nd.

On day 2 I knew there was a lot of time to be made up attacking that turn more and in doing so, I came blasting out of the turn at near 5k rpms.

Anyway, in an AP2, I'm not so sure the 2->1 was necessary. In an AP1, maybe, though Zach hit his fastest time staying in 2nd.

the z3 was in second the whole way... that said its a 6cyl twin cam, of healthy size for the weight of the car.. your results may vary.

I don't think 1st was necessary. It may have "felt" faster and was certainly louder, but it disrupts the balance of the car and you can't get on the power until mostly pointed straight again anyway. In 2nd, I could mat it and let the lack of torque ease into the power, keeping the rear of the car planted under power until VTEC. Plus, it made me think more about carrying a higher minimum speed with a wider line as opposed to pinching it off then getting on the power again abruptly.

On my fastest run I ran harder from the right hander through the uphill into the wiggle and then gave up just enough to make it around the last cone. I also made a more direct run into both the V and the right hander leading to the finish.

Yep...I couldn't shake the thought of cresting the hill after the right hand sweeper at the top of 2nd gear, turning left into the wiggle as the car got light, then hitting the brakes and having the rear end swing out. Now that I know the grip level and how my car reacts (or doesn't) I think I can put that image to bed and forget it.

 looking forward to October!

Just got a letter from Pfizer telling me they have matched my donation for the event, so add a little more to our total contribution to the V-foundation.
