It's about that time for the Eighth Annual Jimmy V Foundation THSCC Charity Autocross and this year we're featuring it at a brand new site down in Fayetteville at the Crown Coliseum. They're happy to have us there and the site looks like a fun place to have a great two-day event with all proceeds going to the V Foundation in their quest to find a cure for cancer. A tradition started in Sanford in 2005 at
Slalomania by Wes Eargle and after seven years Tarheel Sports Car Club has contributed over $37,000. To aid the cause, we'll be doing our traditional raffle for great prizes donated by our club sponsors with all types of fun automotive related goodies. As always, side bets (with the option to pocket proceeds or donate all or a portion of winnings) are welcome along with any 'smack talking' to always make things a little interesting.
Please feel free to help the club by spreading the word to local autocross clubs and car enthusiasts in the area, as the bigger the turnout, the more fun and more opportunity to help a wonderful cause. Also, be sure to check out the Facebook Event we've created. With less than three weeks to go your hard at work THSCC officers are finalizing some of the finer details and as always, updates will be posted in this thread and on the Facebook page for those that aren't yet members with access to the forums.
For the event format, we'll be running the same course both days and your best run counts for the weekend and for THSCC Event #5 Points.
V Foundation Charity fundraising activities planned:
Saturday
-grilled brats, dogs, chicken dogs for lunch w/ drink & chips
-after the last car we'll be doing the Bracket Race (more looks at the course for Sunday
)
Sunday
-grilled chicken sandwiches for lunch w/ drink & chips
-V Foundation Charity Raffle of prizes from THSCC Sponsors and club supporters (we've got some great stuff this year - details to come!)
-50/50 Raffle with the option to pocket proceeds or option to donate all/portion to Jimmy V of course
Additionally, those that would like to make a tax-deductable private donation (or anonymous donations in some cases) can submit checks at registration made out to the "V Foundation for Cancer Research". Also, we've had a 2012 THSCC Slacker Jimmy V Donation Challenge started for those that can't make it and want to help a great cause.The new site is a fairly open, slightly off camber lot on the east end of the coliseum and the surface is relatively unobstructed and a smooth sealed surface similar to the old Greenville auction lot. The layout gives plenty of course design options and should be enough surface to have a fun 45-60 second course. The surface may be a little warmer than our usual airport lots so please bring plenty of extra fluids to enjoy the weekend comfortably. Also, they are allowing us to use the indoor restroom facilities with a/c to cool down from the July heat. To respect the site and the folks that live in the area, we ask that any exceptionally loud vehicles (>~100 db. or so) please take whatever measures you can to tone it down as we'd love to have an opportunity to have future events here.
We have an official THSCC hotel with an outdoor pool, for Friday night and Saturday night that's 2.7 miles right down the road from the coliseum. The Holiday Inn Fayetteville-Bordeaux is reserving 10 rooms Friday night and 40 rooms (max they could do) Saturday evening. Please call to reserve and our 'secret' code is
EG1 (a la Del Sol chassis

)and the reservation is under THSCC if there's any confusion. Regular price for a double-bed, non-smoking is $119 and our special rate is $90 + taxes if booked before July 15th.
Direct link to book online and an option for rooms with one king bed will be added shortly:
