It's about that time for the Eighth Annual Jimmy V Foundation THSCC Charity Autocross and this year we're featuring it at a brand new site down in Fayetteville at the Crown Coliseum. They're happy to have us there and the site looks like a fun place to have a great two-day event with all proceeds going to the V Foundation in their quest to find a cure for cancer. A tradition started in Sanford in 2005 at
Slalomania by Wes Eargle and after seven years Tarheel Sports Car Club has contributed over $37,000. To aid the cause, we'll be doing our traditional raffle for great prizes donated by our club sponsors with all types of fun automotive related goodies. As always, side bets (with the option to pocket proceeds or donate all or a portion of winnings) are welcome along with any 'smack talking' to always make things a little interesting.
Please feel free to help the club by spreading the word to local autocross clubs and car enthusiasts in the area, as the bigger the turnout, the more fun and more opportunity to help a wonderful cause. Also, be sure to check out the Facebook Event we've created. With less than three weeks to go your hard at work THSCC officers are finalizing some of the finer details and as always, updates will be posted in this thread and on the Facebook page for those that aren't yet members with access to the forums.
The new site is a fairly open, slightly off camber lot on the east end of the coliseum and the surface is relatively unobstructed and a smooth sealed surface similar to the old Greenville auction lot. The layout gives plenty of course design options and should be enough surface to have a fun 45-60 second course. The surface may be a little warmer than our usual airport lots so please bring plenty of extra fluids to enjoy the weekend comfortably. Also, they are allowing us to use the indoor restroom facilities with a/c to cool down from the July heat. To respect the site and the folks that live in the area, we ask that any exceptionally loud vehicles (>~100 db. or so) please take whatever measures you can to tone it down as we'd love to have an opportunity to have future events here.
Here's a glimpse of the lot (disregard the grey photoshopped lines):

We hope to see everyone there!
