Nope and it's a damn shame. That lot is nothing more than an eyesore and I'm sure the owner could use some of our money to help pay the taxes.

what about the failed Randy Parton theater up near Ronake Rapids. We pass it everytime we go to NCCAR and it's right off of i95. Anyone looked at that as a likely place?

The south side parking lot at Wake Tech is about the same size than the one above.

Just checked the Wilson Co GIS, same LLC owns it that Mike Dishman and Rodney tried to contact last year. :(

This is the old Cable manufacturing plant in Fuquay Varina that is now closed. At least I think it is closed.

I actually looked at the Randy Parson site back when it was in the news. It looks to be about 500' x 250', which is somewhat smaller than the Blake Water site that NCR had in Wilmington-just to make the comparison. Just looking at Google Map today and doing some sloppy math, it's about the same size as the infield at the Southern Track, but with much less solid stuff to hit.

We may be reaching the point of "beggars can't be choosers" for locations so it might be worth a shot.

I'll look into contacting the RBC. Miles, Mike W, you had spoken with them in the past, could you maybe PM some info on what we would need to do? I see frm the other thread that there was some definite legwork that would need to be done there.

Also, James, what is this auto auction you saw? Location?

Anybody know what this is?

It's an under construction auto auction , massive plot of pavement. Best I can give for a location is somewhere between Durham and Oxford on I-85 southbound. Art saw it as well, maybe he remembers some more details.

Wow, this really, REALLY sucks. Sanford was a great site, and I'm shocked at their unwillingness to even let us run there once or twice a year. I'm even more shocked that they would back out of a date that we already booked with them. This sucks. :(

The search for new sites is now more important than ever. After the scare last year that Laurinburg might go away (plus the fact that it's overgrown and we can only use a smaller area than we used to), NCCAR being so far away from most members, and now all the local clubs are going to be fighting for Danville.

I'm happy to be involved in the search in any way I can help.

You could probably hack something together in a Greasemonkey script with this sort of logic:
Code:
foreach post in table:
    if post.author == "steve remchak":
        post.hide()
    endif;
endforeach;

I leave the actual implementation as an exercise for the reader. Shouldn't be too hard to implement if you're familiar with DOM traversal.

Well that really isn't good news for me, since I live like 20 minutes south of that site. NCR actually had this same issue earlier in the year and had contemplated moving west a little more. There was some discussion about trying some sites in the Fort Bragg / Fayetteville area but I don't know where they ended up. I think their was a lot of resistance to going across I95 to be honest. I know the Crown Center (grid coord. 35.016070 -78.893987) was suggested and one place I had though about was the Fort Bragg Fairgrounds (grid coord. 35.128517,-78.960854). The Fort Bragg Fairgrounds may be reaching a bit but the Crown Center maybe viable. I could possibly ask around post and see if I can dig up a POC for the fairgrounds but I don't want to step on anyone's toes here.

Has anyone asked BMW or Michelin about their testing facilities?
