Someone has to go check out that new auto auction on I-85 north of Durham somewhere between Durham and where NC58 peels off for the first time. I wish I remembered more information from went I passed it.

not exactly my overly enthusiastic but still quite wet behind the ears friend.

i have easily done 15 autoX events. i ran the full schedule for two seasons. i would say i got a fair dose to understand the process.

the number of people from the Raleigh area that will be willing to rattle awake at 5AM, drive two or more hours to stand in the hot sun all day for 6 minutes of driving will surely be much lower than it is now.

i am sorry to hear this. truly i am.

i like NCCAR, but i would suggest a late day start time. this will permit more commuters to attend the event. believe it or not James, most people in the current economy can not rationalize a $90 hotel stay plus meals for an event that cost $30 to enter.

not to mention the aforementioned 5 minutes vs 6 hours thing.

ya'll are really gonna have to come off the hard edge thing that seems to be going on at the moment and look deep to keep this program viable IMO.

might i suggest some dual meets with other clubs? since Danville seems to be the go-to these days i would suggest ya'll cozy up to Triad some.

Here we go again....... I don't like Autocross so here are suggestions to make me still not like it and since I don't like it and might not even go if they held it next door to my house at a time of my choosing and let me run multiple laps until I burned up all my tires and......blah blah blah blah..... Nothing new here

Yep, Triad lost Sanford as well....

I think Warren Field is a great site. However, being it was their first event there I for see the EARLIEST running there as a club being 2013. NCR is prob going to play guinea pig this year. They run a great top notch program and will be great stewards to the site IMHO...

Absolutely. They did a great job Sunday and I am sure they will be up to the task of being ambassadors for the sport/hobby/standing around that is autocross. Hope they get good feedback from the folks that run the airport.

LOL.

Stay tuned for our next site, it's time to start looking around, and we will see what we find. James, we will take a look at that site, and any others that look viable. Helpful suggestions are always welcome. I am GREAT at cold calling :).

I saw that too on my trip home from NCCAR. I think it was at one of the Butner/Creedmore exits.

A lot! They also wanted some other safety items in place like an Emergency Action Plan and EMS on stand by IIRC.

I agree with everything in this post. Someone really needs to break down our attendance into a few groups and figure out how many people are actually willing to drive 1:30 or more to an event. Not everyone is as gung-ho and willing to spend the entire day driving around the state to autocross.

NCCAR, yeah the pavement is nice. Could tell it would be very nice in dry warm conditions but being 2 hours away completely kills my desire to go there. I went out there once to see what the drive/site would be like and I had a spectator meeting me there that I'm working on getting hooked. I doubt I'll make the drive out there again though. My main concerns are the layout of the pad leading to either very short runs or very long overlaps (~12p-5:00p for ~50 entrants?) and some some major issues with the amount of runoff at that site.

For RBC, honestly if we could run RBC and even if it cost $50-60 to get in it would still be far, far, far cheaper than an event at NCCAR for me. I blew through about $80 in gas getting out there and back, people in more normal setups must have killed $20-30 traveling around.

Quoted to add some emphasis. Main reason this year I am running mostly with NCR. Living in Wilmington I was having to have my mom watch my kids in Goldsboro and have to travel thru there to and from my events to have someone watch the boys and it was always a full weekend for me. Now I bring them with me and go up for the day. Nothing to do with not wanting to run with you guys, just logistically speaking it was what I needed to do. The main reason I have been buying parts to run CS in the RX8 to prepare for when Jeremy gets tired of driving east  8)

Sucks that we lost Sanford. I was never a huge fan of the site due to grip levels and some layout concerns, but it was certainly close to our membership base. This certainly makes life harder for our fearless leaders. I don't have any real ideas on how to fix the loss of sites we seem to be experiencing but hopefully we can keep things rolling.
