I heard a rumor that several street tire competitors in this club have switched from the Azenis to the GRBs. My big question is: are they worth it? How does the grip compare to the Azenis? Inquiring minds want to know....

Where are you hearing this? I don't think for a minute they would be as fast as the Azenis. - AB

You may've heard that they switched to a different Falken, but it isn't the GRB. Shawn was using the FK451 (shaved) at the first autox of the year. You already noticed where he finished, right?

I'm going to be on Azeni unless the Hankook tires turn out to be a second faster or something (I really doubt they could & still be legal). Was going to keep using the Pirelli PZero Neroes & jump to 225/50/16, but they appear to be discontinued. :?

I don't really think the difference between the "max performance" tires is big enough to worry about, though (locally). I've tried Kumhos, Falkens & Pirellis, and they're all pretty fast. Only difference I've felt is the squishy sidewall of the Kumho MX. Unless you're out to win a national championship, just get the size & price that fit your needs.

There are a few tires that will be as fast as an Azenis when shaved down to 2/32s or less :)

Note: I moved this to the Autocross Forum.

I also left Shadow thread in The Lounge by mistake... [ Sorry Jason. ]

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

I do now that you brought it up. :o

Not sure what you mean about not being a GRB. The FK451 is a GRB. See on Falken's website. Tom, did your tire look like the one in the Falken site picture? Or did it have an Azenis tread?

I was going to stay with ES100s, but now I'm considering a switch to GRBs
