Well, that time has come where need to seriously consider raising rates for the autox part of the club. With overall club maintenance costs going up along w/ the site rentals, we need to consider a modest increase. We are suggesting the following rates for autox for 2012.

$25 Member and prepaid
$35 price for every other situation.

In regard to prepay, you can always pay for the upcoming event at the meeting and not have to use paypal. You can also buy a year long pass and not have to worry about paying for each event. Pricing for a year long pass has been set at $160 based on the new fees. You can pay either at a club meeting, mail payment to Bowie or via paypal. If you pay via paypal, there is a $5 additional fee to cover paypal’s service fee.

This post is to solicit feedback on the price increase and possible impact to attendees. This is always a slippery slope, but we haven’t raised prices since I joined the club in 2000 but club costs have risen.

Please post back and let me know your thoughts.

hard to believe that a price increase could cause consternation among the rank and file.

(1) this plan would seem to motivate some individuals to prepay or go the smart route and purchase a season pass. a win-win for the club.

(2) consider it a handling fee for the day of event registration and the staffing needed to collect fees at the event.

(3) this may however cause some folks to wonder what the benefit of paying Club Dues might be if they are prone to pay the day of the event. i mean other than being able to read my contributions to the ether that is this web forum.

i have no problem with the increase, once every 10 years or so seems reasonable to me.

Seems very reasonable to me. Any prices in that range are pretty minuscule compared to other costs autocrossers incur while participating in the sport, so I've never seen the entry fee as a big deal (even with other clubs that charge higher fees). And I think a significantly higher non-prepay/prereg price is a good idea to encourage people to commit, and reduce staffing requirements during the event.

Will there be a 2012 Season Pass offered?
EDIT: I guess it would help if I read properly! :stick:

Just to clear things up a bit, the $5 extra for paypal is just for a season pass, not for individual events.

Are all non-members the same? i.e., should we offer club entry fees for Triad and SCCA people? Do they do the same for us?

Not to stir the hornet's nest, but are club dues up for the same increase? I guess I'm just trying to figure out how in the red we are...maybe January's meeting will clarify. Our goal is not necessarily to be profitable, but certainly we don't want to lose money... what kind of margin do we expect on each event?

edit: I noticed no one mentioned lifetime member fees, etc. Are those also still available?

Yes, Triad/CCR/NCR etc can prereg at $25. But it has to be prereg/prepay. ANY day of payment will be $35.

And lifetime membership is still $200 and annual dues are still the same.

This is purely about autox event and/or year long pass dues.

We lost money on 4 of the last 5 events last year (not a lot, but not breaking even).

Can my dues renewal be used as a partial offset for a lifer?

Yep, if you want to send an extra $175, you can get converted to a lifetime.

granted I don't like increasing prices, but those do not sound overly bad.

as an alternative source of money? why not use "fun run" money for this?

IMO this is just basic economics. Our club expenses have risen, thus our event prices must be increased to cover them.

Nobody likes prices increases, but we all have to pay to play.

My only comment here is that it offers no incentive for non-members to prepay. May be something to think about?

It does raise the incentive to join the club, though. With this fee schedule it takes three events before a non member spends the same amount in extra fees as they would to just join.

I've had Triad give me the members rate on multiple occasions.
