So slow today....gotta get the shifting down better. And a front bar. And a LOT more practice!

Sooooo much fun yesterday! And yes shifting down to first in the turn around was killing me. I'm a terrible autocross shifter as I can't get mind to remember to go back up to second quick enough. Don't think it hurt me as much around the pivot cone. So much to learn.

Looks stout, Matt...well done! Those endlinks look so small next to that treetrunk bar....

Thanks Steve, I saw your post and didn't know what the plan was but you're right, they are a bit disproportionate.

I might be end link shopping, whether I want to or not because they seem like the achille's heel.

Homemade mcmaster endlinks are no 'stouter'. But they are without a doubt stronger than the forces the bar could even think about generating :). 5500lb radial load rating. Carbon kevlar coated joints (ask Zach about clunky/noisey Saner endlinks ;) ).

Jeremy and I softened the Gendron by 1 hole yesterday since the car is a bit pushy. Going one hole softer allowed us to swap the endlink from the inside to the outside of the mounting point on the LCA and now the endlink is perfectly aligned (and easier to change if we want to go softer).

We also flushed the clutch fluid (didn't have time for brake) and the slave cylinder is a squeaky bastard. I put more grease on the release fork to slave cyl pushrod interface but it still squeaked so it must be the cylinder/spring itself. Anyone else have this?

Found a thread about it. Have to pull the slave off and polish and relube the pushrod.

Worth sharing, the fellow I got the bar from sent pics of his new custom Gendron-inspired bar which looks pretty impre$$ive.

On my end, I had another chance to test my new front bar creation a bit further at a track event and it performed very well. I have attached some photos of my new bar, in case I have not shared it with you already. It's a 1.5" center section 1.25" splined ends drilled hollow bar with custom bearing mounts. I got the idea from looking at the Gendron unit, but I used off the shelf parts, except for custom built mounts.

As far as the Saner bar (or any other versus stock), it's unbelievable how much difference it made in the way the car puts down rear traction, and I haven't even got an opportunity to autocross it yet. Overall, the car feels way more stable under throttle but I might be bracing myself for some massive understeer/pushiness up front as there HAS to be a downside to making the car this much more stable and less scary.

Guess I'll find out at NCCAR and I figure I can always drop back from the stiffest setting that it's currently on.

It will definitely understeer a bunch more. My eibach increased the understeer 10 fold. I can't imagine having a bigger bar up front. I'm hoping wider tires up front will help with my understeerz.

For those STR moochers, here's a clean 05 for 16k in Fayetteville

http://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/931119-fs-nc-red-2005-s2000/

And it is easier to go to BSP with this one over the DBW AP2, if the need arises....
