Why do you want more rake? Aren't you just increasing the weight bias to the front?

With the softer rear bar (to keep the inside rear tire better loaded so the torsen can do it's magic) the car might be a bit pushy (combined with the 800/650 spring rates) so a bit of positive rake will aid in balancing the car out a bit. 1/2" in positive rake will not change the static f/r weight bias much if at all, it's more about how it alters the car dynamically

The static weight distribution/rake thing makes more sense after google search. I did the same thing my M3 and STi. I think I changed the rear ride height 10 times before they felt "right". Did you think of that on your own or did you discuss it with someone that tried it? I would want to try it with the ride heights equal before playing with the rake.

It's all over the boards in the S2000 community (same thing with aligment), but it is never no rake...it's either positive or negative. I'm going off of the info I've gained in the miata community. If the car feels too loose, I can either a) drop the rear a bit or b) go stiffer on the front bar. We are also starting with a square camber setup (max out front camber and go with same in rear). Some STR folks are more in front than rear and some are less in front. Just depends on driving style. But then again, STR is new enough that development is all over the board and there is very little 'formula' to the class.

So, I'm going to Janko Friday morning for an alignment and think I've got it ironed out what I want to start with for a mildly aggressive setup to
make the Star Specs last the entire season. I'm torn on whether or not to do a touch of toe out up front but I don't want the car to be to twitchy or sensitive to bumps on the road, turning the wheel.

F
Camber: -2.0°
Caster: 6.25°
Toe: 0.00°

R
Camber: -2.5°
Toe: -1/16" in (total)

Totally unrelated, would anyone in STR like to see a skidpad at the TNT next weekend? I'm thinking it might be helpful to learn the balance of the car.

I'd drop the rear camber to -2 or it's going to push like a pig (like Jeremy's did in December) :).

What James said and why would you want toe out up front on a car that turns in like yesterday? My first run in my S2000 on Hoosiers I hit 9 cones at Laurinburg because the car turned so fast!

Nope no new car right now. The kart is getting a minor overhaul and will hopefully be faster this year though.

Just got done corner balancing the S2000. 50.0/50.0 Got the cross weight down to less than 1 lb differential (0.71lb). Only took 3 iterations and the ride heights are around 13.25" all around with Jeremy in the seat. F/R weight distribution is 48/52 though we had 3/4 tank of gas (woops :( ). But probably pretty close to 50/50 with 1/3 tank or so plus that'd give us back a hair of positive rake.

Prelim alignment is -2.5* camber at all 4 corners.

Don't we want to run a minimum of 1/2 tank anyway due to fuel starvation issues?

Everything about people running into starvation issues that I have seen is on race tires. It also seems to be very much a car by car thing, at least if you trust the forums. I haven't noticed it as an issue in my car yet.

I was almost out of gas after the VMP autox. Gas light was on when I was leaving the site, or after a couple of miles or something. No fuel starvation.

long left-hand sweepers are where most reports of fuel starvation happen, be it track or autocross--those are not common in our autocross setups. Left-hand pivot cones? Pretty common. I'm going with 4 bars and we'll see what happens.

I had the fuel light come on when I was leaving Sanford last year. I have never noticed fuel starvation.

So how many STR cars will there be...anyone have a final count?
As an outsider to the class, I am excited to see the competition.
