HS took a hit, but wasn't as bad as I thought it might be. We did get hit harder than a lot of other classes though. Not a problem in Tour, but definitely a hit for Pro. My biggest goals for 2012 are in Pro, so that's a bit of a buzz kill.

Oh goodie gumdrops! Haven't looked yet, but my I'm guessing BS, DS, and maybe HS go up and AS and GS go down a touch... Not sure about others.

You'd be wrong about GS, but only by .005.

It's tough to say if a class goes up or down based on just the factor of course. What's really interesting to see is when the 'number crunchers' on the SCCA forums figure out the relative change versus the years before. My lazy way of doing it is (which is probably not indicative at all  ) to look at the stock class above and below GS on a 60 second course, DS & HS.

Last year DS would have to be .59 quicker and HS could be +1.36.

In '12 it'll be .512 and 1.12 which tells me HS may have gotten pulled a little closer and DS stayed about the same maybe? I did BStock for the heck of it, and can go even SLOWER by about a tenth to continue crushing GS in those beautiful S2k's.

Very cool graph from the rrauto-x forum: http://roadraceautox.com/showthread.php?t=37204

Andy Hollis. He's building a Mazda 2 for the class.

Are you sure?

He said this on 10/21 about the Mazda 2 in an SCCAforums thread:

"Having driven one on a track, they are dog-slow in acceleration. And this was a base model (lightest). The gearing is the Achilles hell. Fairly long second gear. Spreadsheet analysis shows this one to be right up there with the best in handling, due to weight, but will suffer to things like the MINI and RSX for accel. Which means a good speed maintenance car, but lacking when it comes to coming off slower turns. So a good car for this year's West course at Nats and subpar on the East.

--Andy"

My friend just got rid of his '92 Civic with something like 250k and bought a shinny new red Mazda 2 with an autotrans. I'm not sure why anyone would want to autocross one of these things, but then again someone like Andy would probably extract more out of it that anyone else so it'll be interesting to see.

Cool points for racing such a small econobox that you'd never expect to see coming down the course though.

Rumor has it he's already sold his autocross Honda and purchased the "2".
The soft pax will be a plus in Pro.

Gwen is right. He sold God's Chariot and bought the 2 a couple weeks ago. I'll find the thread when I get a moment.
